Serene Pioneers Season 4: New Frontier

Welcome to a brand new season of Serene Pioneers! Explore a new fantasy themed world filled with new structures and dungeons to explore and conquer, lots of foods to cook and things to build.

Taking a more RPG-esque approach this season changes a few core mechanics quite drastically.
Players can unlock and level up Jobs which unlock the use of new tools and power-ups that improve different aspects of your gameplay.
Natural health regeneration is disabled by default, making you rely on brewing potions, cooking foods that grant health benefits, drinking water from bottles, sitting next to cozy campfires to rest and slowly recover and gain bonuses from sleeping in a comfortable environment.
The day-night-cycle has been altered. By default days are now 2 hours and nights 1 hour long, which can be changed via the Better Days configuration.
Seasons change the appearance of the whole world, affect the weather and make certain crops grow slower if they’re out of season.
Last but not least gear progression has also been altered and slowed down. No longer can you craft tools above stone tier and armor above leather tier in a crafting table. Instead you’ll have to find Upgrade Templates in loot chests, find gear in loot chests or trade for it with villagers. In turn gear that you upgrade will also keep all of its enchantments!

Something for (almost) everyone. Whether you like exploring a vast and varied world to discover new biomes, delve deep into epic dungeons for special loot, be a farmer and chef or just build your dream house, you’ll be sure to find something you’ll enjoy.

Some of the highlights of this pack

• Behold the breathtaking Overworld world generation thanks to Tectonic, Streams Reflowing, Terrestria and Terralith.
• The Nether too has been touched up by Cinderscapes and Nether Descent, adding new biomes, blocks and mobs.
• Once again Enderscape provides a great updated experience in the End with new biomes, structures and items.
• For the adventurers there are several specialized pieces of weapons and gear to chose from. Dispose of enemies from a distance, heal yourself and friends, sling fireballs and icicles at your enemies!
• No natural health regeneration! Hunger no longer restores your health, instead you’ll have to brew potions or get comfortable near a campfire to regain your strength.
• Longer day-night-cycle.
• A few recipes and loot tables have been altered to make things less tedious.
• The Enchanting system has been overhauled significantly. Enchantments now level up as you use your tools, weapons and armor. For more information read below.
• Face interesting challenges in all kinds of fantasy themed dungeons and structures.
• Farming, fishing, cooking, building, everything you’ll need for a cozy and immersive experience.
• If you like in-world machines, mechanisms and automation Create will serve you well.
• A handpicked selection of resource packs have been enabled by default, but you can of course customize them as you wish.

This modpack is made with multiplayer in mind first, but it will be just as enjoyable to play by yourself.
The aim of Serene Pioneers Season 4 is to provide an immersive, optimized, fun and cozy experience for players who don’t like strict quest line driven or high tech packs and instead want to enjoy their time in a fantastical world, alone or with friends.

Known issues

• Sometimes when loading back into a world or server you might see weird glitchy rendering of the terrain. This is most likely caused by Voxy, it hasn’t been updated on this version to work with the latest version of Sodium so I had to do a manual dependency override. If you encounter issues try using the command /voxy reload which might fix it.

Info for server owners

You can download and copy the pack onto your server, but you will need to remove/disable the following mods since they are client only and will crash your server on startup:

• Mod Loading Screen (mod-loading-screen*.jar)
• Voxy (voxy-0*.jar)

The following mods have been included for convenience on servers:

• Inv View
• Maintenance Mode
• MiniMOTD
• Simple Discord Link

Use chunksmith to pregenerate chunks. It works like chunky except it also pre-generates the LoDs for Voxy so players joining a server will immediately see the full pregenerated world. The command for it is /chunksmith or /cs.

Roadmap

The pack is still a work in progress. Here’s a rough roadmap of things I want to add in the near future:

• Skill trees that allow for specialization of utility and combat jobs
• Rebalance Villager trading to be in line with the theme of the pack

Technical details

The pack ships with a default options.txt file with predefined settings and keybinds. All changes to this file as well as any mod configuration changes you make will never be overwritten by future updates unless there is a reason to.

In-game guidance

You can find most information in-game via JEI, item tooltips and Advancements. Mechanics that are not obvious are explained further down.

Emotes

The pack ships with Emotecraft, a mod that lets you use all kinds of fun animations like waving, patting, laying down and more. The menu can be opened by pressing X by default, there you can also configure the mod and open the folder in which to put new emotes which you can download here.

Gameplay changes

Radial menu

Radial

A lot of commands have been added to the Radial Menu which can be accessed by pressing and holding T by default. A few actions have been set up already, but you can fully customize it to however you like. By right-clicking on an slice you can change what it does. To change the number of slices on the main radial menu you will have to open the settings for the Radial mod.

Animals

Respawning Animals

Neutral animals, like cows or chickens, now respawn over time. No longer do you have to worry about completely wiping out the local cow population.

Enchantments

Penchant

Enchantments have been heavily reworked. Mending is gone because it trivializes things too much. All enchantments from the Enchanting Table and traded or found books start at level 1 and you level them up by using the tool or armor. The Enchanting Table lets you select what enchantments you want to put on a piece of gear, but for anything other than the most basic enchantments you will need to have Chiseled Bookshelves containing books with those enchantments in them nearby.
Placing a Grindstone within the Enchanting Table radius also allows you to move enchantments from an item onto books.
Items can no longer be combined with enchanted books in the anvil, combining two items still works though.
To make an item truly unbreakable you will have to level the Unbreaking enchantment to level 5.

Health regeneration

No Natural Regeneration, Midnight Thoughts, Comfortable Campfires, Healthy Water

By default natural health regeneration is disabled in order to promote the use of potions and other means of regeneration. In addition to potions, foods and drinks that grant health regeneration and boosts you also recover health by sitting near Campfires, regain a little bit of health when drinking a Water Bottle, as well as after sleeping in a place with high enough comfort.

If you do not like this you can disable the No Natural Regeneration mod. If you already created a world with the mod enabled you will need to change the natural_health_regeneration gamerule after disabling the mod.

Horses

Icy’s Better Horses

Horses have been completely reworked and are much more useful and diverse now. New breeds with different specializations, an advanced saddle which allows you to equip Ender Chests and glider wings to your horse, carts and ploughs and much more. Open your Stable Handbook and check out the Advancements for guidance and more information.

Keybinds:

• T Some commands are built into the radial menu
• G to change the walk cycle while riding a horse, or to open the command menu while looking at a horse
• B to make the horse rear
• Left Alt to toggle the carriage if a horse is pulling one
• Double-tapping W while on a horse enables auto-run

Parties

Better Party

Form parties with your friends and always see their health and where they are. A new button has been added to your inventory screen which allows you to open the Party interface where you can create, join or manage parties with other players.

Villages

Structurify, Epic Structures: Village, Trek

Vanilla villages will not generate at all. Instead they are replaced by sprawling towns befitting of the RPG theme of this pack. Furthermore villages are much more scarce compared to vanilla, with an average spacing between villages about three times that of vanilla villages.
