介绍
MazOptimized
Maximum FPS. Same good looks.
MazOptimized is a hand-tuned Fabric performance pack: no content changes, no texture
swaps, no “optimization” mods that break vanilla mechanics. Install it, keep your world,
and watch the frame counter climb.
Built and benchmarked on real hardware — an RTX 5060 laptop at 1920×1200 — with every
mod combo measured rather than guessed.
Which version should I pick?
| Your PC | Renderer | Download |
|—|—|—|
| NVIDIA GTX 16xx / RTX / newer, strong CPU | Sodium (+ Nvidium on 26.3) | Sodium (full) |
| AMD / Intel Arc / older NVIDIA, or you want Vulkan | VulkanMod (1.21.11 / 1.21.1 only) | Vulkan (full) |
| Integrated GPU, 4–8 GB RAM, laptop | Sodium | Sodium Lite |
| Very old GPU / low VRAM | VulkanMod (1.21.11 / 1.21.1 only) | Vulkan Lite |
Vulkan packs are discontinued on 26.3 and newer. Mojang ships a Vulkan renderer in
the game now — Video Settings → Graphics API → “Prefer Vulkan (Experimental)” — so a
separate VulkanMod pack would be pointless there (and VulkanMod has no 26.3 build
anyway). Use the Sodium build on 26.3+ and flip the in-game toggle if you want Vulkan.
Vulkan packs remain for 1.21.11 and 1.21.1, which have no such setting.
Full = everything, including Nvidium (mesh-shader chunk rendering, NVIDIA only, and
26.3-only in this pack), Bobby (cached chunks → bigger render distance for free), Iris +
EMF/ETF (shader support and entity model/texture fixes), MoreCulling, ImmediatelyFast and
the fully tuned Sodium config.
Lite = the core stack only. No Nvidium, no Bobby, no shaders, no heavy UI extras.
Fewer moving parts, less RAM, fewer places to go wrong — still a massive jump over
vanilla.
Sodium vs Vulkan: Sodium supports Iris shaders and is the only choice on 26.3.
On 1.21.11 VulkanMod measured ~1.8× faster than Sodium at 16 chunks (1538 vs 861
FPS) and ~1.7× on 1.21.1 (1834 vs 1057) — try it if you don’t use shaders and your
GPU has solid Vulkan drivers. Never install Sodium and VulkanMod together; the packs
keep them apart for you. On 26.3+ just use Sodium and switch the in-game Graphics API to
Vulkan if you want the same thing.
What’s inside
Rendering
- Sodium — the modern chunk renderer, rewritten for speed
- Nvidium (full) — GPU-driven chunk rendering via NVIDIA mesh shaders
- Iris + Entity Model Features + Entity Texture Features (full) — shader support and full OptiFine-format model/texture compatibility
- Sodium Extra + Reese’s Sodium Options (full) — every Sodium setting exposed
- VulkanMod (Vulkan builds) — Vulkan renderer replacing OpenGL entirely
CPU / game loop
- Lithium — hundreds of targeted server-side/game-logic optimizations
- C2ME — multithreaded chunk generation and loading (worlds load much faster)
- Krypton — optimized networking stack
- FerriteCore — big memory-footprint reduction
- ModernFix — dynamic resource loading, faster startup, lower RAM (not available on 1.21.1)
Culling & draw calls
- EntityCulling — skips entities behind blocks
- MoreCulling (full) — smarter culling for leaves, glass, item frames, etc.
- ImmediatelyFast (full) — batches immediate-mode rendering (UI, text, entities)
Quality of life (zero FPS cost, or a gain)
- Bobby (full) — caches chunks on disk so you can push render distance past the server limit
- Dynamic FPS — drops framerate when unfocused so your laptop stays cool
- AppleSkin, Mod Menu, Cloth Config, YACL — hunger/HUD info and settings UI
- Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin, MidnightLib, Placeholder API, Forge Config API Port — required libraries
All renderer settings, options.txt and configs ship pre-tuned — you don’t have to
touch anything.
Installation
- Install Prism Launcher (or any launcher that supports
.mrpack). - Add Instance → Modrinth → search “MazOptimized” → pick the version for your Minecraft version and PC tier.
- Set memory: 4–6 GB for Lite, 6–8 GB for full builds (more only if you use large render distances with Bobby).
- Launch. That’s it.
Manual install: download the .mrpack, then drag it onto Prism Launcher’s window.
Requirements: Java 25 (C2ME’s bundled native-maths module requires it — the pack
will refuse to load on Java 21), 64-bit OS, a GPU with recent drivers. Nvidium needs an
NVIDIA GTX 16-series / RTX or newer with up-to-date drivers.
Test system
Every number on this page comes from this machine — nothing guessed, nothing synthetic:
| Part | Spec |
|—|—|
| CPU | Intel Core i7-14650HX — 16 cores / 24 threads, up to 5.2 GHz |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop, 8 GB VRAM, driver 615.78 |
| RAM | 30 GB DDR5 |
| OS | CachyOS (Arch-based Linux), kernel 7.3 |
| Java | OpenJDK 25 · 8 GB heap |
| Display | 1920×1200, fullscreen, V-Sync off, FPS uncapped |
Benchmarks
Method: normal terrain world (seed locked, noon, clear weather, mobs off), fixed camera
pinned above a forest valley, world reset before every run, 30 s warmup, V-Sync off,
framerate unlimited, FPS read from an on-screen counter. Every config is measured in
isolation — mods are removed from the folder between runs, not just disabled.
Absolute numbers drift a few percent between sessions (thermals), so only same-session
comparisons are meaningful.
16 chunks (the default)
| Build | 26.3 | 1.21.11 | 1.21.1 |
|—|—|—|—|
| Sodium full | 950 FPS (1% low 443) | 861 FPS | 1057 FPS |
| Sodium lite | 840 FPS (1% low 391) | — | 1057 FPS |
| Sodium only (reference) | — | 783 FPS | — |
| Vulkan full | — (use the in-game Vulkan toggle) | 1538 FPS | 1834 FPS |
| Vulkan lite | — | 1510 FPS | 1793 FPS |
At 16 chunks the game is CPU-bound at roughly 1 ms per frame, so the individual toggles
move the average by a couple of percent — the pack is already at the ceiling there.
VulkanMod’s lower draw-call overhead is worth about 1.8× over Sodium on 1.21.11 and
1.7× on 1.21.1, with an identical scene on screen. 1.21.1 is simply the lightest of
the three versions (1057 vs 861 FPS for the same Sodium stack).
32 chunks (26.3, where Nvidium shines)
| Build | FPS |
|—|—|
| Sodium full (with Nvidium) | 912 FPS |
| Sodium full, Nvidium removed | 475 FPS |
| Sodium full, Iris + EMF + ETF removed | 903 FPS |
| Sodium lite | 455 FPS |
Nvidium is worth ~1.9× once you push past 16 chunks — that’s where chunk rendering
stops being free. Iris/EMF/ETF cost nothing with no shader pack loaded (903 vs 912 is
noise), so shader support is free to keep.
FPS right after joining (16 chunks)
Chunks are still streaming in for the first ~10 seconds after the world opens. This is the
frame rate during that window, measured every second from the moment the world appeared:
| Build | 2 s | 5 s | 10 s | 15 s | 20 s | 30 s |
|—|—|—|—|—|—|—|
| Sodium full — 1.21.11 | 17 | 20 | 78 | 829 | — | 812 |
| Sodium full — 26.3 | 11 | 20 | 146 | 333 | 927 | 932 |
| Vulkan full — 1.21.11 | 20 | 43 | 93 | 1241 | 1425 | 1425 |
| Vulkan lite — 1.21.11 | 37 | 51 | 61 | 1411 | 1466 | — |
Every build is playable immediately (you can move and mine at 20 FPS) and reaches full
speed in 15–20 seconds — 1.21.11 Sodium and both Vulkan builds at ~15 s, 26.3 at ~20 s.
VulkanMod climbs noticeably faster through the chunk-load window. No mod list avoids that
dip — it’s chunk mesh upload, not the mods.
Notes & known limits
- Java 25 is required by every build — C2ME ships a module that declares
java >= 25. On Java 21 the loader stops with a dependency error. - Nvidium is included only in the 26.3 full Sodium build. Its 1.21.11 build pins Sodium to 0.8.11/0.8.12 (which Sodium Extra 0.9.4 rejects) and its 1.21.1 build demands Sodium 0.6.13, so those packs would not load — the resolver drops it there instead of shipping a broken pack. Don’t update Sodium manually on 26.3; Nvidium pins it.
- VulkanMod does not support shaders, Sodium, Nvidium or Iris — Vulkan builds contain none of them, and never will. Never add Sodium to a Vulkan build.
- 1.21.1 builds ship without ModernFix (no Fabric build for that version) and without Nvidium (see above); the core stack is unchanged.
- Vulkan packs stop at 1.21.11. 26.3+ ships its own Vulkan renderer (Video Settings → Graphics API), so there is nothing for a VulkanMod pack to add — and VulkanMod has no 26.3 build anyway. Sodium builds are the only ones published for 26.3.
- The MazSMP server comes pre-added (
mazsmp.mazpl.net) in every build — it shows up in your multiplayer list on first launch, no typing or copy-pasting. - Shader packs are not included. Iris is present in full builds so you can drop one in.
- Client-side mods only. The pack is safe to use on servers that allow client mods (no cheat mods, no X-ray, no auto-clickers).
