ShelfTrace adds commands for finding written and writable books in loaded storage near the player.

/shelftrace find <text> searches signed-book titles, authors, and page text, plus writable-book page text. /shelftrace list lists the nearest books in the scan area. Each result includes coordinates, the storage block, the slot, and a short excerpt when page text matched. At most 20 results are shown, nearest first.

ShelfTrace checks existing block entities in already loaded chunks within 96 horizontal blocks in the current dimension. It includes lecterns, chiseled bookshelves, and standard block inventories such as chests and barrels. It does not load chunks or search player inventories, ender chests, entities, dropped items, or containers nested inside item stacks.

Unopened structure-loot containers are skipped so a search does not generate their contents.

The singleplayer world owner can use ShelfTrace without normal cheat permission. LAN guests cannot use it. Dedicated servers require game-master or operator permission. The mod runs on the server, and connecting players do not need to install it.

ShelfTrace is not a whole-world scanner and does not search unloaded areas or nested item containers.
