Oh The Biomes You’ll Go: Legacy Edition

Explore 76 biomes in Minecraft Forge 1.12.2, from enchanted forests and snowy highlands to tropical islands, canyons, wetlands, and the Dead Sea. Gather plants and food, build with 28 tree families, discover structures, and encounter creatures along the way.

Foreword on the port

Legacy Edition is WinDanesz’s Java rewrite of AOCAWOL’s original 1.12.2 MCreator-based Oh The Biomes You’ll Go, published with AOCAWOL’s permission. It recreates the original 1.12.2 content while improving world generation and adding more control over what appears in your world. It does not backport content from later versions of BYG or Oh The Biomes We’ve Gone. Please, don’t even ask for backporting content, as this rewrite only has permission for the 1.12.2 content.

What’s in the mod?

Biomes and building blocks: obviously, the main focus of the mod is to add new biomes – distinctive landscapes, wood sets, flowers, plants, stone, sand, and soil.
Places to discover: a few villages with the new wood types, huts, towers, outposts, and Dead Sea shipwrecks.
Creatures and equipment: Kiwi Birds, Fungal Zombies, Crystal Crawlers, four ore and equipment sets, food, and brewing.
Extensive configuration: change biome weights, disable individual biomes or whole content sets, and tune world generation, creature spawning, food, and equipment. A great benefit of this is that you can blend this biome mod with others, without adding duplicated content.

The rewrite removes the MCreator-generated code, and addresses cascading world generation lag. Content toggles can now remove related blocks, items, recipes, and biomes together. In general, content should also work more in-line with what you’d normaly expect with expect with other mods or vanilla (e.g. wood types, oredict).
