Night Shift

A security-guard horror mod. Clock in at dusk. Survive until 6 AM.

You took the night job. The pay is good. The mannequins weren’t supposed to move.

Build your own security office anywhere in your world: a desk, a few cameras, steel shutters in the doorways. At night, clock in. From 12 AM until 6 AM, the night crew walks toward your office one camera at a time, but only while nobody is watching.

How a shift works

• Watch the cameras. Press V at your desk to open the camera feed. It’s a real live view from each camera block in your world, with night vision, static and a map of every camera.
• They only move when unwatched. A mannequin you’re watching on a feed, or looking at yourself, stays put. Look away, and you’ll hear plastic clatter somewhere closer.
• Close the shutters. Z and X slam your left and right shutters. A mannequin waiting at a closed shutter gives up and goes back to the start. If the doorway is open, it comes in.
• Mind the power. Cameras and closed shutters drain power. At 0%, every shutter opens, the feed goes dark, and you wait in the dark.
• Stay at your post. Walk away from the desk and you forfeit the night. Sleeping isn’t allowed.
• Get paid. Make it to 6 AM and you’re paid in emeralds. Every night after that is harder: more mannequins, moving faster.

Getting started

All three are in the Redstone creative tab.

Tip: put the far camera somewhere creepy (a stage, a basement, the end of a long hall), and the rest along the route to your office.

Controls (rebindable)

• V: camera feed (A/D or 1-8 to switch, click the map, V/Space/Esc to leave)
• Z / X: left / right shutter

• difficulty: how often mannequins move
• powerDrain: how fast power runs out
• lethal: getting caught kills you (default), or just hurts

Info

• Forge 1.20.1, needed on client and server. Works in multiplayer, where each guard runs their own shift.
• Fine to use in modpacks.
