From The Caves Patch

From The Caves Patch fixes lag, memory leaks, and a few bugs in From The Caves.

This mod was originally only for FTC 0.6.926 but now it will continue to update alongside FTC.

This mod’s description will change often.

Performance fixes

• The cross chest and the priest only look for villages in loaded chunks, instead of searching up to 128 chunks away. This can be turned off in the config.
• The anger system no longer scans around a player every tick to check if they are inside a house.
• The mob that hides behind pillars looks for a spawn spot once a second instead of every tick. It still spawns as often as before.
• The tension system no longer reads every block of each new chunk a player walks into.
• Mineshaft ambience no longer reads every block in nearby chunks every 30 seconds.
• Events near blocks (anvils, chests, levers, etc.) no longer scan around a player on the same tick.

Memory fixes

• Cleaned up From The Caves’ leftover data when a player logs out or the server stops, like cats, dropped items and event cooldowns. Some of it used to keep the old world in memory after a player left it.

Bug fixes

• Tamed cats are now left out of cat events, so they don’t run off.
• Fixed tension building twice as fast on NeoForge due to every chunk counting as if it had a cross in it.
• From The Caves’ event log file is turned off by default because it did not get cleared and kept growing. There is also an option to clear it on every start, if you still want the event log.

Config

You can turn off most of From The Caves’ horror events in the config.
