Hedgehog Buddy

A tiny, spiky friend for your forest adventures.

Hedgehog Buddy adds the hedgehog: a small, shy animal that lives in forests. Earn its trust and it becomes a loyal little companion.

🌲 In the wild

• Hedgehogs live in forests (forest, flower forest, birch forest and more), alone or in pairs.
• They’re shy: if you sprint at one, or a monster gets close, it curls into a spiky ball.
• Walk up slowly with sweet berries and it will follow you.

🦔 Taming

• Feed it sweet berries (each berry has a 1 in 3 chance to tame it).
• Right-click your hedgehog to make it sit or follow.
• Feed it sweet berries to heal it.

🍓 Forest snacks

Every few minutes your hedgehog trots up to you and drops a snack: sweet berries, mushrooms, an apple or sometimes glow berries.

🛡️ Spiky ball defence

When anything hits it, the hedgehog curls into a ball for a few seconds:

• it takes 80% less damage,
• whoever hits it in melee gets pricked (like Thorns).

🐛 Bug hunter

Tamed hedgehogs hunt silverfish, endermites and cave spiders. Take one into a stronghold!

Compatibility

• Minecraft 26.3: Fabric (with Fabric API), NeoForge and Forge
• Install it on the client and the server (it adds a new mob).
• Feel free to use it in modpacks!
