Have you ever actually considered golden armor and tools actually useful?

No? What if they actually lived up to their magical potential? If you think that’s a good idea, this mod is for you.

Golden armor and tools now receive double the original calculated enchantment level of most enchantments from the enchantment table, loot generation and other enchantment-based features (the exception being enchantments that have a max level of 1, like Mending and Silk Touch).

This means if you were to normally get Sharpness 5 in the enchantment table or in a loot chest with any other sword, you would now get Sharpness 10 on your golden sword. That would make your golden sword deal 9.5 Attack Damage, almost as much as a Netherite Axe. How about that?

Using the anvil to combine two golden items with matching enchantment levels at or above the level cap now produces a golden item with an enchantment level higher than the cap, up to double the max enchantment level.

This means if you combine two Sharpness 5 golden swords in an anvil, you would create a golden sword with Sharpness 6. The highest you could go is combining two Sharpness 9 golden swords together to make a Sharpness 10 golden sword.

Notes:

This mod also comes with a tag, for any items that should be considered a part of the gold tier. It is called “gold_tier_items”, under the mod id “stay_gold”. If you know how to make datapacks, you can add modded gold items to this list if they aren’t using the vanilla gold tier so that they can take advantage of this mod’s features.
