Villager Guard Gunners: Village Buildings

Overview

This companion datapack adds furnished Village Defense Buildings for Villager Guard Gunners. It includes all five building families in one download, with regional materials and two layouts per building family in each supported region.

The pack works with vanilla villages and the supported village mods listed below. You don’t need every village mod installed. Integrations for absent village mods are skipped.

Included Buildings

• Barracks: compact barracks and courtyard layouts.
• Village Armories: compact armories and supply yards.
• Sentry Posts: roadside shelters and gateway lodges.
• Village Watchtowers: compact towers and gatehouse lookouts.
• Training Yards: practice yards and drill courtyards.

Supported Villages

• Vanilla villages: Plains, Desert, Savanna, Taiga, and Snowy.
• ChoiceTheorem’s Overhauled Village (CTOV): Plains, Desert, Taiga, Snowy Igloo, Swamp, and Jungle. Other CTOV themes aren’t included.
• Moog’s Missing Villages: Jungle and Swamp.
• Tidal Towns: Deep-ocean settlements.
• Sky Villages: Floating-island designs with railings.

The vanilla designs also support the vanilla village replacements used by Better Villages and Lios Overhauled Villages.

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.20.1
• Forge
• Villager Guard Gunners 1.7, with its required dependencies:
  • Guard Villagers
  • Timeless and Classics Zero (TaCZ)
  • Fzzy Config
  • Kotlin for Forge

Install the required mods on both client and server. Village mods are optional and require their own dependencies.

Installation

1. Close the world or stop the server.
2. Place the downloaded ZIP, still zipped, in the world’s datapacks folder. For a new singleplayer world, use the creation screen’s Data Packs option.
3. Enable Village Defense Building generation in Fzzy Config. This setting starts disabled.
4. Reopen the world or restart the server. /reload alone does not apply building generation changes.
5. Explore newly generated villages to find the buildings.

On a dedicated server, install the datapack in the server’s world folder. Joining players don’t need a separate local copy.

Generation Notes

Existing villages aren’t rebuilt. Building selection varies, and larger designs need enough space to generate. Occasional awkward terrain placement is possible.

Buildings don’t replace killed guards or automatically refill removed supplies. Size-based staffing and automatic patrol coverage are separate settings.

The original Villager Guard Gunners 1.7 build can report missing-pool warnings for supported village mods that aren’t installed. Those are skipped and aren’t a problem; the available ones still load fine.
