No one remembers the crossing.

Keep a fire lit. Keep the doors shut.

You wash up on a frigid island.

There are houses, fields, a lighthouse. And yet it appears completely deserted, as if everyone had suddenly disappeared.

The cold gets to you, and you take shelter in one of the many structures throughout the island.

Slowly, you begin to realize you may not be as alone as you thought.

Light the lighthouse, and get off the island.

Wake & Fathom is a horror survival mod focused on dread. It builds its tension slowly and takes away many of the safeties Minecraft usually gives you.

There are threats on this island, though they might not show themselves at first.

The more you explore and the more you engage with the mod, the quicker tension will rise.

This is a mod best played completely blind.

But if you must know, the next section contains what to expect in terms of mechanics.

LIGHT SPOILERS

Survival and Dread are the two main gameplay components of Wake & Fathom.

Dread is managed by an "intensity" system which throws several different events at you. The number and type of events scales as the story and your time on the island progresses, ensuring a subtle but constantly growing tension throughout your playthrough.

Survival is a combination of several systems working together. The nights are freezing and the island is scarce on resources. Food spoils and torches go out.

The game includes its own assets and tweaks to vanilla mechanics.

The game also includes the ability to tune the "intensity" system for a more relaxed or, well, intensive playthrough.
