Built largely off of AutoModpack, this ultra-light client has a bare minimum of mods on installation. Instead, users download and play mods by joining modded servers augmented with AutoModpack. This even allows players to connect to a vareity of different modpack servers so long as the modloader and minecraft versions match.

A note on security from the makers of AutoModpack:

Be aware that this mod allows remote servers to download arbitrary executable files directly into your computer. It’s crucial to only use it on servers you absolutely trust. A malicious administrator or a compromised server can include harmful files such as malware – to protect against this, please use sandboxed launchers such as Pandora or if you are on Linux, use launchers installed via Flatpak.
