It is not hunting you. It is keeping you.

L’Évidé is a psychological horror modpack for 1.20.1 built around one entity.

There is no monster zoo and no jumpscare every two minutes. Most of the time nothing happens — then a door you closed is open, there’s a sign in the forest with your name carved on it, and someone in chat says “help” on a server where you play alone.

It hears you

The pack listens to your microphone (everything stays on your machine, nothing is recorded or sent anywhere — only a volume level reaches the game). Talk to it. Ask “do you hear me” out loud and you’ll get an answer. Screaming when you see it is a bad idea. It also remembers what you said, and sometimes says it back from the dark, not quite right. Speech recognition is bundled (offline, EN/FR) — zero setup.

It watches how you play

Panic — sprint, spin the camera, shout — and it comes more often, closer, bolder. Stay calm and it keeps its distance. Some visits it only stands in the treeline. It holds your stare for a few seconds before it goes. You have a stamina bar: you cannot outrun it forever.

Days aren’t safe, just quieter

It leaves things: wither roses, rose trails (don’t follow them), chests that aren’t yours, a book you apparently wrote, your own head on a fence post. Some of these are traps. Caves have their own repertoire — a torch you never placed, digging inside the walls, a minecart rolling where there are no rails. Sleeping mostly works. Mostly.

One jumpscare exists in the whole pack

Conditions are strict and it may never happen in your playthrough. If it does, you earned it.

Old-school dread

The nights are actually dark (True Darkness), textures are old-school (Golden Days — alpha look, square sun, blocky lighting, near fog), you get torches with a dynamic halo instead of a flashlight, and every sound — whispers, knocks, the heartbeat, the scream — is original audio, so the pack is safe to stream and monetize.

For video makers there’s an intensity setting in levide-common.toml: CHILL (no deadly grab), NORMAL, or NIGHTMARE.

You’ll want: a microphone, headphones, and a forest.

Privacy: voice capture runs entirely on your machine (Java Sound + bundled offline Vosk speech recognition, Apache-2.0). No audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. Bundled libraries: Vosk 0.3.45, JNA 5.13, Vosk small models EN/FR (all Apache-2.0). All other mods, resource packs and shaders are pulled from their own CurseForge projects. L’Évidé mod, sounds, voice lines and menu are original work.
