Bobochop Unbound

Bobochop Unbound is a horror-survival modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1, built around dangerous exploration, industrial progression, and things that move in the dark. Scavenge the wilderness for supplies, manage thirst, and prepare for encounters with SCP anomalies, cryptids, and other hostile creatures.

Version 1.4.0 runs on Forge 47.4.28 and adds new survival and production systems alongside expanded Create content. Build up from primitive tools, make use of firearms and field equipment, and decide how far you are willing to venture for the materials you need.

⚙️ Key Features

  • Horror Encounters: Explore a world populated by SCP anomalies, cryptids, and other unsettling threats. Some creatures attack; others make the wilderness feel watched.
  • Survival & Exploration: Manage thirst, explore varied biomes, and gather what you need to keep moving.
  • Charcoal & Metallurgy: Charcoal Pit Reloaded adds charcoal-pit, coke-oven, and bloomery systems to the pack’s progression.
  • Industry & Automation: Build machines with Create and explore additional metalworking and metallurgy content.
  • Firearms & Field Gear: Use TACZ firearms, binoculars, and other equipment when an expedition turns dangerous.
  • An In-Game Guide: GuideME offers guidance on survival, primitive progression, food, water, combat, travel, and more.
  • Immersive Atmosphere: Lighting, sound, and environmental effects keep the world unsettling, even when nothing is in sight.

🌲 Survive the Unknown

Days are for exploring, gathering supplies, and preparing. Nights bring their own dangers, but darkness is not the only thing to fear. Watch your resources, choose your equipment carefully, and think carefully before exploring unfamiliar places or following a sound into the wilderness.

☢️ The Fall of Earth1

Earth1 is the universe the Survivor remembers as home. The Survivor will later awaken in a different universe, around 1300 AD; they do not yet know they have crossed into another universe.

For decades, The Black Meridian Initiative operated beyond public knowledge. To the outside world, it was a respected research organization working in technology, industrial automation, sustainable energy, and experimental physics. Private contracts and government partnerships funded ambitious projects around the world.

Beneath that public image lay underground laboratories, industrial complexes, and restricted research facilities. A secret inner circle pursued forbidden studies of ancient rituals and entities beyond conventional understanding. Research was concealed, projects were reclassified, and entire departments disappeared behind legitimate scientific programs.

The boundary between scientific research and occult obsession eventually collapsed. Deep beneath one of the Initiative’s most advanced facilities, the Inner Circle combined an experimental reactor with a ritual meant to pierce the boundaries of reality.

The experiment caused a catastrophe on Earth1. A massive nuclear event devastated entire regions there, but it was only the beginning. For a brief moment, the barrier between realities collapsed. The portals did not open to distant worlds. They opened to Hell on Earth1.

Demonic entities poured into reality on Earth1 as radioactive fallout spread across the planet. Animals mutated, plants changed, and unknown species appeared. The world was transformed forever.

About 150 years before the Survivor awoke in Earth53, a separate multiversal glitch brought portals from Earth1 into that world. Many beings poured through and ran rampant. By the time the Survivor awoke, they had already conquered medieval settlements across Earth53.

🧪 What Does SCP Have to Do With This?

The SCP Foundation is often associated with the unsettling creatures it contains, but its primary purpose is containment. The organization operates in secret. Earth23 is also home to an SCP Foundation, founded there with a history distinct from the one familiar in other universes. Its research unit investigates travel between parallel worlds, and it seeks to capture predators across realities.

Around 1100 AD, roughly two centuries before the Survivor awoke, the Foundation established research facilities on Earth53. Later, demonic portals from Earth1 appeared there and devastated the world. The Foundation was not prepared for the scale of the catastrophe.

👤 The Survivor

You awaken with no memory of how you arrived. You remember Earth1, and your last memory is going to bed there. You wonder if you are trapped in a dream, but this is no endless dream: unbeknownst to you, you have been teleported to the past of a parallel timeline, around 1300 AD. You are not on Earth1, and you have not yet learned that portals from Earth1 appeared in Earth53. There is no BMI material for you to find in this timeline’s past. No BMI structures generate in Earth53, and no BMI underground laboratories can be found there. You do not work for BMI and did not know Dr. Elias Ward personally.

Survival comes first. But as you explore, you find a phone listed in your inventory as “recovered Field notes”; the text visible on the phone itself says only “Field notes.” It contains detailed survival advice left by someone who was here before you. Unknown to you, the writer came from Earth1. They vanished from Earth1 at the exact same moment you did, and both of you were teleported to the past of this same parallel timeline. The writer arrived roughly fifty years before you. Their identity remains unknown, and it is not known whether either of you was conscious when you vanished. You do not yet know any of this.

Personal Journal – Dr. Elias Ward

The same dream has returned.

The setting is consistent: an obsidian circle beneath the Nether sky. The blocks do not hold a stable shape. Their surfaces seem to twist, and I can make out forms beneath the stone that resemble faces. I have no explanation for this detail. I am recording it as observed.

The figures were present again, arranged in a precise ring around the altar. Crimson robes; faces concealed by their hoods. They did not speak. The sound they made was a low, sustained hum, similar to several damaged Nether Portals operating at once.

I woke with the sensation still present: in my chest, my teeth, and, less plausibly, my thoughts.

They addressed me. I could not identify the language, and I cannot reproduce a single symbol from it now. The impression of meaning remains, but the content does not.

I have not reported these dreams. Dr. Keller’s case is reason enough for caution. The official report attributes his condition to a psychotic episode. Colleagues said he had become fixated on the lower sectors and insisted that sections of the facility did not exist. The next morning, his employment records were gone.

Yesterday I returned to Observation Chamber C-17 to examine the altar. It remains in place. I found no maintenance request or construction record for it. The chamber should be empty. No one else appears to find its presence unusual; no one even looks at it.

I asked Director Voss about the markings. He smiled and redirected the conversation. He did not answer.

The discrepancies are accumulating: rooms absent from the blueprints, equipment with no inventory records, and conversations that stop when certain subjects arise. Some researchers speak of progress. Others speak of preparation, destiny, and “the arrival.”

I can no longer accept that the reactor is the only thing they are preparing for.

If this journal is found, do not rely on the official reports. If you hear the humming while awake, leave immediately. Do not investigate it.

Handwritten note found beneath the entry:
They think they are preparing for something. I do not think they realize it has already begun.

In the Survivor’s dream, beyond the trees, you find an asylum with its windows boarded from the inside. The reception desk is buried beneath damp forms, but one patient record has been placed on top, its paper still dry. The name is smudged; the intake date is several years old. Under Incident, a clerk has typed: Patient reports humming behind the north wing doors. Claims staff have begun answering it. A later note, in different handwriting, orders the patient transferred to Ward C. No destination is listed.

At the end of the corridor, the north wing is sealed behind a steel door. The lock is intact, and a chain has been threaded through the handles from the other side. Someone has scratched a line of small marks into the paint beside it. You recognize none of them. From beyond the door comes a low, steady vibration. The patient file trembles in your hand. The hallway lights flicker once, then stay dark.

After awakening in Earth53, the Survivor remembers the asylum.

❓ The Legend of Bobochop

Accounts of Bobochop disagree on the details. Most describe a tall, humanoid shape with proportions that seem almost familiar, but never quite right. It is usually spotted at a distance, standing perfectly still and making no sound.

The details may vary, but the feeling does not: something is watching you. In a world full of demons, mutants, and cave-dwelling horrors, Bobochop is unsettling for another reason.
