Truly Eternal Hunt(compatible with accessory pets)
Let the Enigmatic Legacy series, Relics, and most of the Curios from Relics take effect when worn by the pets included in Truly Best Friends Forever.
介绍
What this mod solves
Truly Best Friends (TBF) changes what "keeping a pet" means: any creature you adopt is written into the world’s save directory, at a path like <world>/trulybestfriends/<player UUID>/<pet UUID>.nbt. It can be a wolf, a cat or a horse, but also a zombie, a skeleton, or a modded summon that doesn’t implement OwnableEntity.
The problem is that pet items from other mods don’t know about these records. Their way of deciding "is this my pet" is still the vanilla one: check whether the creature is a TamableAnimal or an OwnableEntity, and whether its owner field is the current player. That makes the coverage very narrow.
The result is a jarring situation: you adopt a zombie with Truly Best Friends, and it really is your pet — it follows you, it fights for you — yet the Sanguinary Hunting Handbook gives it no bonus, the Hunter Belt doesn’t recognize it, and the Royal Crown does nothing for it, because its type and its owner field don’t match those mods’ criteria. Conversely, someone else’s dog that was never recorded still gets your bonuses as long as its owner field matches.
This mod does one thing: it swaps those checks for Truly Best Friends records.
What it hooks into
Sanguinary Hunting Handbook (Enigmatic Addons on 1.20.1, Enigmatic Legacy+ on 1.21.1)
Vanilla recognizes only "a tamed animal whose owner field is the player". The new rule is: as long as the creature has a record in Truly Best Friends, the record’s owner is the current player, and it is in the same dimension and within the handbook’s effective range, it receives the bonus.
The handbook’s own numbers are unchanged: a base +25% pet attack damage; the Emblem of Bloodstained Valor adds damage based on the player’s missing health and grants the pet attack and movement speed; the Scroll of a Thousand Curses adds damage by curse level; Blazing Might adds damage at levels above II.
We also fixed an upstream issue: on 1.21.1, Enigmatic Legacy+ looks for this plain book through its curio lookup, so the handbook could not grant any bonus at all. This mod now accepts it from both the inventory and the curio slots.
Enigmatic Legacy and Enigmatic Addons trinket layer (1.20.1 branch)
The 1.20.1 version additionally widens six Enigmatic Legacy trinkets (Emblem of Bloodstained Valor, Enigmatic Amulet, Heart of the Golem, Charm of Treasure Hunter, Will of the Ocean, Non-Euclidean Cube), three spellstones (Ring of the Seven Curses, Eye of the Nebula, Pearl of the Void), and four Enigmatic Addons trinkets (Ring of Ultimate Luxury, Forgotten Ice Crystal, Charm of Hell Blade, Charm of Scorched Sun, plus the linked handling of the Emblem of Bloodstained Valor) to Truly Best Friends creatures. That layer has no counterpart on 1.21.1 — Enigmatic Legacy+ is already compatible as-is, because its author’s code is written well enough that nothing extra is needed.
Relics — Hunter Belt (1.20.1) / Hunting Belt (1.21.1)
The belt has four "who counts as my pet" checks, all rerouted to Truly Best Friends records.
- Pack damage bonus: it is enough that the attacker is that player’s Truly Best Friends pet.
- Leader damage reduction: when counting the pets within the radius, it counts that player’s Truly Best Friends pets.
- Pack experience and statistics: same as above, and pets the vanilla logic already counted are not counted a second time.
The belt’s own tiers, values, rank modifiers and target selection are all left as they are; only the "who is the pet" step is replaced.
Relics — Pet Bone system of the Hunting Belt (1.21.1)
Truly Best Friends intercepts pet death at the moment of fatal damage, so for a Truly Best Friends pet, Relics’ vanilla bone-drop logic never fires: the pet never dies, and no death event is ever emitted. This mod connects the whole chain to Truly Best Friends.
- Bone drop: the Pet Bone drops when Truly Best Friends stores the death into its snapshot.
- Revival: the bone triggers Truly Best Friends’ own revival, restoring from the snapshot and keeping the original UUID and tracking relationship, instead of spawning a fresh copy with a brand-new UUID the way vanilla does.
- Revival lock: while the bone exists, Truly Best Friends’ regular revival is refused with a notice, until the bone is used. The lock survives restarts.
- Charging: kills made by the player and by that player’s Truly Best Friends pets both charge the bone.
The cost is simplified accordingly: only the Pet Bone is consumed, skipping Truly Best Friends’ revival item and cooldown.
Dream Relics — Royal Crown
The vanilla rule is "creatures tamed by the wearer": ×0.6 damage taken, ×1.2 damage dealt, size scaled to 1.5×. It now reads "creatures recorded by Truly Best Friends under the player currently wearing the crown". The chain is: the creature is recorded by Truly Best Friends, its record names a player, and that player is currently wearing the Royal Crown.
Damage reduction, damage bonus and size all follow together, and the multipliers still come from Dream Relics’ own config. The size reuses Dream Relics’ own modifier ID, so the two never stack.
Dream Relics — trinkets that only worked for players
The following trinkets hard-coded "players only" in event handlers or entity logic. They now work on creatures recorded by Truly Best Friends as well, with values still read from Dream Relics’ config.
- Astral Necklace: attacks ignore part of the target’s armour.
- Void Necklace: immunity to damage that has no source entity, such as fall, fire or void damage.
- Memory Necklace: stores damage taken and adds it to the next attack, with a configurable cap.
- Heart Voice Pendant: damage taken in a single hit cannot exceed a share of max health.
- Echo Earring: on hit, a chance to fire a sonic boom along the line of sight.
- Tassel Ring: the higher the target’s health, the higher the damage.
- Mist Veil Ring: immunity to all negative effects.
- Dark Whisper Ring: undead won’t pick the wearer as a target; they still give chase when retaliating.
- Endless Dream: on hit, a chance to put the target to sleep.
- Ocean Current Blessing: no oxygen consumption underwater.
Dependencies and optionality
The only hard dependency is Truly Best Friends. Everything else is optional and independent: install one and only that part is enabled, and a missing one never blocks startup.
- Truly Best Friends: required, 0.2.5+ on 1.20.1 and 0.2.6+ on 1.21.1.
- Enigmatic Legacy+ 1.0.0+ (1.21.1), or Enigmatic Legacy 2.30.1+ together with Enigmatic Addons 1.2.6+ (1.20.1): the handbook and trinket layers.
- Relics 0.12.10+ (1.21.1), or 0.8.0.13+ (1.20.1): the Hunter Belt / Hunting Belt.
- Dream Relics 1.0.3+: the Royal Crown and the trinkets.
- Curios: only used to ask whether a given trinket is worn. Also optional, with the version range left wide open, so it can never block startup.
Known limitations
Creatures need a trinket slot first, and this mod doesn’t provide one
The trinket layer does exactly one thing: it removes the "is this a player" check and replaces it with "this trinket is found in the curio inventory". Whether a creature has trinket slots is decided by the creature mod it comes from, or by that mod’s datapack. For a creature without slots the lookup simply returns false — no error, no interference with the original logic. Once that creature mod gives it slots, these trinkets work immediately with no further adaptation.
For packs that add slots themselves, slots still go through Curios’ data files, where entities lists entity IDs and slots lists slot types. Note that entities must be concrete IDs, never # tags: Curios doesn’t strip the # before handing it to resource-location parsing, which throws and stops the server from starting at all on 1.21.1, and silently creates no slots on 1.20.1. Also, vanilla’s /curios command only accepts players, and there is no native "right-click a creature with a trinket" interaction, so how a trinket gets into a creature’s curio slots likewise depends on that creature mod.
Some trinkets are deliberately left unadapted
The reason is basically "it doesn’t hold up once you remove the player": it needs player experience or inventory, it only triggers when a player breaks or harvests a block, the logic lives on the client, movement and jumping are hard-coded in an entity mixin, or it depends on a player-only event. The Dream Totem, which also belongs to Dream Relics alongside the Royal Crown, is in that group too — Truly Best Friends intercepts pet death during death handling, so the death event never fires for it, and adapting it would have no effect whatsoever.
Particles and sounds are omitted
They only affect presentation, not numbers or checks.
On 1.20.1, the pet bone and part of the belt can only be additive
Whatever the vanilla logic already counted cannot be withdrawn without modifying Relics’ code, so the related switches only affect "who else gets it", not the original share.
Design stance
This mod doesn’t add items, creatures or dimensions to your pack. It only adjusts the checks.
