Tiny Tunnels

Whole rooms inside a single block. Place a machine, shrink yourself down, and build anything inside: a smelting line, a redstone circuit, a storage room. Tunnels on the room’s walls connect the inside to the outside, so pipes, hoppers and redstone work straight through the machine.

Features

Machines

• Six sizes, with rooms from 3×3×3 up to 13×13×13 inside.
• Use the Shrinker on a machine to enter its room; use it again inside to leave.
• Machines can go inside other machines’ rooms.
• A room stays loaded while its machine’s chunk is loaded.

Tunnels

Place a tunnel on a room’s wall from the inside. It links to one side of the machine, and a letter shows up on that face outside.

• Tunnel: items, fluids and energy. A hopper, pipe or cable on the machine’s face works with whatever touches the tunnel inside.
  • Pass-through (default): talks straight to the block on the other side. Storage buses and comparators see the real inventory.
  • Buffered in / Buffered out: holds a stack and pushes it one way. Use this for pipe → tunnel → pipe. Right-click the tunnel with an empty hand to switch.
• Redstone Tunnel: carries a signal in or out of the machine, full 0–15 strength. Right-click it to flip the direction.

The Tunnel Wrench

• On a tunnel: right-click moves it to the next side; sneak + right-click removes it.
• Break a machine with it: you keep the machine with its room, in creative too.
• Right-click a machine: turns it 90°; the tunnels follow.
• Sneak + right-click twice: deletes the room. Everything inside comes back to you (configurable).

Copying rooms

Hold an empty machine of the same size and sneak + right-click a machine to copy its room. In survival the copy costs the blocks and tunnels it contains; chat tells you what’s missing. Chests come out empty.

Create addon

Using Create? Get Tiny Tunnels: Create for the Kinetic Tunnel: rotation and stress through the machine wall. Build a power plant inside a block.

Compatibility

• Works with pipes, cables and storage from any mod that uses NeoForge’s standard item, fluid and energy handling (tested with Pipez).
• Jade shows tunnel modes and buffer contents.
• JEI / EMI show the recipes.

Config

tinytunnels-server.toml: the shrink animation, buffer sizes, whether beds explode in rooms, and whether deleting a room gives its contents back (deletingRoomDestroysContents, off by default).

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.200+
• Install on both client and server.
