Tiganu’s Multitool

Tiganu’s Multitool combines a pickaxe, axe, and shovel into one tool, freeing two inventory slots. It includes six vanilla material tiers, each with twice the durability of a normal tool of the same material.

I originally made these multitools for Morrowless. Since the recipes use vanilla tools and materials, I extracted the feature into a standalone mod for regular survival worlds. Morrowless on CurseForge

How it works

Use the same multitool to mine stone, chop wood, and dig dirt. Mining speed and harvest level follow the corresponding vanilla tools for its material.

Right-click interactions work too: strip logs, scrape oxidation from copper, remove wax, create paths, and extinguish campfires. Hoe actions are not included.

All three tool functions share one durability bar. The Netherite Multitool also keeps vanilla Netherite fire resistance.

Crafting

Place a pickaxe, axe, and shovel of the same material across the top row of a crafting table, in any order. Put one stick in the center of the middle row and another in the center of the bottom row. Leave the other slots empty.

Use fresh, unmodified vanilla tools and ordinary sticks. Damaged, enchanted, renamed, or otherwise customized ingredients are not accepted and remain in the crafting grid.

All six tiers use this pattern, including Netherite, which requires a Netherite pickaxe, axe, and shovel. Obtaining a vanilla pickaxe unlocks that material’s multitool recipes in the recipe book.

Enchanting and repairs

The finished multitool follows vanilla pickaxe enchantment rules. You can apply Efficiency, Unbreaking, Mending, and either Fortune or Silk Touch.

Sharpness and other axe-specific combat enchantments do not apply. Having axe functionality does not turn the multitool into an axe weapon. Combat attributes remain those of the corresponding vanilla pickaxe.

Repair it using the same materials as the vanilla pickaxe of its tier.

Installation and compatibility

Place the .jar in your NeoForge profile’s mods folder. For multiplayer, install the same version on the server and on each player’s client.

This is a standalone mod. Morrowless and the other Tiganu’s mods are not required.

About the development

This mod was originally part of Morrowless and has been extracted into a standalone mod. It was developed with the help of ChatGPT for coding, as I have no programming background. The ideas, feature design, balancing, and in-game testing come from me.
