How it works

He is not spawned. There is no mob, no spawn egg and nothing in the entity registry: a thing you can hit is a thing you can be sure about. Every player carries a running level of the conditions he prefers – dark, deep, and alone – and that level is what decides how close he is to being in the world. Lighting the room walks it back a step. It does not clear it.

There are five steps. You are told about four of them.

Nothing is random. The same player in the same conditions gets the same approach, which is the part nobody believes until it happens to them twice.
