Not an Empty World

Tension

Every player has a hidden Tension level that rises with their surroundings.

Tension rises when you:

• Stay underground
• Stay in the dark
• Play alone, away from other players

At high Tension, expect:

• Footsteps and block-breaking sounds that aren’t yours
• Chat messages from players who didn’t send them
• More frequent sightings

Entities

• Apparitions — Silent watchers at the edge of your vision. Look at them and they’re gone.
• The Tormentor — Invisible, deep in the caves, and digging toward you.
• The Observer — Waits inside the Trial.
• The Hunter — Hunts you inside the Trial. If it catches you with Safe Mode off, your world save is deleted.

Talking to Them

Place a sign and write a question. Sometimes the text changes into an answer.

The Trial

The only way to make it stop.

1. The Compass — Apparitions may drop a ######## Compass.
2. The Entrance — Follow the compass to an entrance deep underground.
3. The Dimensions — Survive the Corridors, the Library, and the Mineshaft.

Complete the Trial and the mod’s effects end for you — permanently.

Reawakening

Place a sign, write /summon reawake, and right-click it. Everything comes back, more often and more aggressive than before.

Configuration

Adjust everything in the config files or through Cloth Config:

• Feature toggles — Turn entities, sounds, structures, and dimensions on or off
• Tension tuning — How fast Tension builds in different conditions (solitude, storms, underground)
• Event scheduling — How often entities and sounds appear
• Audience radius — Pause events when players are close together
• Safe Mode — Keeps your worlds from being deleted. On by default — only turn it off if you know what you’re doing.

• Multiplayer: Supported.
• Modpacks: You’re free to include The Forgotten in modpacks and derivative works.
