Turn every meal into an adventure!

Tasting Trails is a lightweight Fabric mod that rewards players for discovering and eating different foods. Every three unique foods you try grants two permanent bonus hearts, encouraging exploration, farming, cooking, and experimentation with food from other mods.

Features

• Gain 2 permanent hearts for every 3 unique foods

• Earn up to 10 bonus hearts by default

• Progress is saved between game sessions

• Bonus hearts remain after death

• Supports vanilla and modded foods

• Optional chat notifications for new foods

• Configurable progression and maximum health bonus

• Works in single-player and multiplayer

Commands

• /tastingtrails — View your progress and next reward

• /tastingtrails list — View all discovered foods

• /tastingtrails reset — Reset your progress

• /tastingtrails reset <player> — Reset another player’s progress; operator permission required

Configuration

After the first launch, the configuration file is created at:

config/tasting-trails.json

Server owners can change:

• Foods required per milestone

• Hearts awarded per milestone

• Maximum number of bonus hearts

• New-food chat notifications

Requirements

• Minecraft Java Edition 26.1.2 and 26.2

• Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer

• Fabric API

• Java 25

Install Tasting Trails and Fabric API in your mods folder. For multiplayer, install the mod on both the server and connected clients.

Compatibility

Tasting Trails recognizes food through Minecraft’s standard food component, allowing it to work automatically with many food and cooking mods.

Original Project Notice

Tasting Trails is an independently developed mod with an original name and implementation. It does not contain code, artwork, or other assets from Spice of Life: Carrot Edition.
