Special Mobs, revived for Fabric 26.2

This is an unofficial Fabric port of Special Mobs by FatherToast and Sarinsa. The original is a Forge mod that stops at Minecraft 1.20.1. This port brings it to Minecraft 26.2 on Fabric. All credit for the mod’s design, code and art goes to the original authors. Original project: Special Mobs on CurseForge, source: github.com/FatherToast/SpecialMobs.

What it does

Special Mobs adds 148 variants of 15 vanilla monsters. Each variant has its own look, abilities and drops. When a vanilla monster spawns, there is a chance it spawns as a special variant.

• Families: creepers, zombies, drowned, zombified piglins, skeletons, wither skeletons, slimes, magma cubes, spiders, cave spiders, silverfish, endermen, witches, ghasts and blazes.
• Examples: Ender Creepers that teleport, Scope Creepers with long-range explosions, Ninja Skeletons disguised as blocks, Fishing Zombies that hook you, Potion Slimes, Runic Endermen with beams, Armored Blazes and many more.
• Every variant has its own loot table, a spawn egg in the creative menu, and a full config file to tune spawn chances, stats and abilities.

Requirements

• Minecraft 26.2
• Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer
• Fabric API
• Java 25

Crust, the original’s library dependency, is built in. You do not need to install it separately.

Port notes

• Tested in single player with a 99-mod pack. All 148 variants spawn, render and drop loot.
• Tinkers’ Construct compat recipes and the advancements from the Forge version are not included yet.
• Please report bugs with this port here, not on the original project.

License

Special Mobs and Crust are licensed under the GNU GPL v3, so this port is also GPL v3. The full source for this port is attached to each release as a sources additional file.
