Simply Skills Stealth Rework

Simply Skills Stealth Rework is a lightweight gameplay addon for Simply Skills on Minecraft 1.20.1 Fabric.

This addon reworks the original Stealth mechanic into a more consistent infiltration system, while preserving its combat risks and improving the Ranger Reveal mechanic with proper line-of-sight detection.

Features

Reworks several aspects of the Simply Skills Stealth mechanic:

• True Player Stealth — Stealthed players are no longer revealed simply because another player looks in their direction.
• Unrestricted Line of Sight — Stealth remains active both behind walls and in open areas.
• Personal Inventory Access — Opening and managing your own inventory does not break Stealth.
• Carried Storage Access — Carried equipment and compatible equipped backpacks, such as Traveler’s Backpack, can be accessed without breaking Stealth.
• Regular Block Placement — Placing normal building blocks does not break Stealth.
• External Containers — Opening chests, barrels, furnaces, placed backpacks, and similar external containers breaks Stealth.
• Offensive Interactions — Actions such as placing TNT or using lava break Stealth.
• Damage Dealt — Causing damage to another entity breaks Stealth, including compatible modded weapons, projectiles, bombs, and other damage sources.
• Damage Received — Receiving damage breaks Stealth as intended by the original Simply Skills mechanics.
• Revealed Effect — Actions that break Stealth apply the Revealed effect, preventing Stealth from immediately activating again.

Ranger Reveal Rework

The Ranger’s Reveal passive remains a dedicated counter to Stealth.

The original mechanic can reveal nearby Stealthed targets without properly accounting for solid blocks between the Ranger and the target.

This addon changes that behavior:

• Reveal Radius — The original configurable detection radius is preserved.
• Reveal Frequency — The original configurable detection frequency is preserved.
• Line of Sight — Ranger Reveal now requires a clear line of sight to the Stealthed target.
• Walls Block Reveal — Solid walls prevent Ranger Reveal from detecting Stealthed targets.
• No View Direction Requirement — Rangers do not need to look directly at the target for Reveal to work.

This preserves Ranger Reveal as a specialized counter to Stealth without allowing it to detect players through solid walls.

Stealth Behavior

While Stealthed, players can still:

• Move and reposition normally.
• Open their personal inventory.
• Manage their own equipment.
• Access compatible carried or equipped backpacks.
• Place regular blocks.

Stealth is broken and Revealed is applied when the player:

• Attacks or damages another entity.
• Receives damage.
• Opens an external container.
• Places TNT.
• Uses lava.
• Causes damage through compatible modded projectiles, bombs, weapons, or similar sources.

Mod Compatibility

Damage detection is handled dynamically whenever possible instead of relying exclusively on manually configured item lists.

This allows many modded weapons, bombs, projectiles, spells, and other offensive sources to automatically break Stealth when their damage can be attributed to the Stealthed player.

Specific interactions that may not preserve player damage attribution can still be handled separately when necessary.
