Return by Death changes how death works in Minecraft. When you die, instead of dropping your items and respawning at your bed, you go back in time to the last checkpoint – world, mobs, blocks, inventory, position and everything else restored to exactly what they were. Checkpoints appear on their own, quietly, when the world decides you’ve earned one.

How checkpoints work:

There are two types of checkpoint: 

Safe checkpoint – fires after spending enough time outside of active danger. The wait is between 30 and 120 minutes, chosen randomly. Light combat does not interrupt it – only entering full Danger Mode pauses the timer. The timer resumes once the danger phase ends. Only a successful checkpoint resets the countdown.

Danger checkpoint – fires after you survive a real fight. The mod tracks a “pressure” score while you’re in danger: multiple enemies nearby, low health, negative effects, hunger all push it up. When pressure maxes out, you enter Danger Mode. Once the fight is over and you’ve had roughly 100 seconds of calm, the mod rolls a dice to decide whether to save:

    1st success:      40% chance
    2nd success:     30% chance
    3rd success:      20% chance
    4th success:      10% chance
    5th or more:      5% chance

If the roll succeeds, the next danger checkpoint will have a lower chance to fire — each consecutive danger save makes the next one harder to get. Any safe checkpoint resets the roll chance back to 40%.

  A checkpoint will NOT fire and will be delayed while you are:
    – in water, lava, or any other liquid
    – airborne (jumping, falling, or flying with elytra)
    – on fire
    – below 5 hearts (10 HP)
    – near an active boss (Ender Dragon, Wither, or any mod boss with a visible boss bar)

  A minimum of 3 minutes must also pass between any two checkpoints.
  These conditions only delay the checkpoint.

Currently, the mod adds compatibility with the following mods:

Commands:
/reultima checkpoint – manually force a checkpoint for yourself

/reultima status – show time until next safe checkpoint and roll chance for Danger checkpoint
