To adjust your reach while in-game you require Mod Menu and Cloth Config. To adjust your reach hit ESC while in-game, click on the “Mods” button and search for reach reducer, then click on the icon with 3 bars and circles in the top right hand corner which will bring up a menu where you can type in your reach distance for block placement and attack for both creative and survival mode. Note that you cannot set these higher than the default/vanilla values for obvious reasons.
