Plants Can Grow in Trees!

This simple Datapack allows for more creativity when building wooded or overgrown environments, by making it possible to place ferns, grass & saplings etc. on logs. i had the idea for this Datapack after hearing about temperate rainforests and of course i wanted to recreate one in Minecraft!

This Datapack works by adding #minecraft:logs to a bunch of block tags that define which blocks various plants can be placed on.

If the Datapack is uninstalled, any plants placed on logs will remain until given a block update.

Mod Compatibility:

If a mod adds its logs to the #minecraft:logs block tag, yes plants will be placeable on those logs. You can check if a modded log is in the block tag in-game by looking at it with the F3 debug screen open.
