Your pack crashed. What do you do now? Pack Doctor reads your mods, logs, crash reports and configs and answers in plain words: what is broken, what to do, in which order. No programming, no googling stack traces. For NeoForge 1.21.1, Fabric 1.21.1, Forge 1.20.1 and Fabric 1.20.1 — inside the game, without the game, or on a .zip / .mrpack before you publish it.

A doctor, not a log viewer
What to do. The first screen is a short plan, most urgent first:
- Stops the game: Add the mod “kotlinforforge” for NeoForge 1.21.1 — needed by Fzzy Config. [Modrinth] [CurseForge]
- Stops the game: The mod “jei” is in the mods folder twice. Keep one file, delete the other.
- Fix: The file config/brokenmod/settings.json has a mistake in line 4. Fix that line, or delete the file and the mod creates a new one.
Several findings about the same missing mod become one step. Find mod opens the mod’s page search on Modrinth or CurseForge, already filtered to your loader and game version.
Plain mode (on by default) starts every finding with What to do and Why it matters. Version ranges are written in words: [5.3.0,) becomes “5.3.0 or newer”. The technical part — rule, file, line, log excerpt — is one click away.
Stuck anyway? Question for Discord copies a ready message for the mod’s support: game and loader versions, the error, where it is written and the log lines, with your user name, paths and tokens hidden.
What it finds

Every finding has a severity, a separate confidence, its source and plain advice. A check that cannot run says Check unavailable and why — it is never counted as passed.
For modpack makers
- Release check of the instance, a folder, an instance ZIP, a CurseForge export or a Modrinth
.mrpack, for client or server: READY, NOT READY or CHECK INCOMPLETE. Finds worlds, logs, screenshots and account caches left in the pack, stray.disabledfiles and client-only mods on a server. - History & comparison: new, resolved and remaining problems between two checks or two packs.
- Pack profiles: a portable JSON with mods, versions and SHA-256 — check any instance against your release.
- Scenarios: your own checklists with PASS / FAIL / NOT RUN.
- Verified compatibility rules and your own log rules in
config/ospackdoctor/. - Command line with exit codes for scripts and CI.
When the game does not start
Double-click the jar (any Java 8+ — it finds Java 17/21 by itself), choose the game folder or a pack archive and press Check the pack. Optional window after a crash opens Pack Doctor by itself when the game closes with a crash report or JVM crash log.

- Read only. It never deletes mods, never changes configs, recipes or worlds, never downloads anything. Only its own files are written (reports, history, profiles), and a replaced profile is kept as
.bak. - Private. No network code. Reports hide your user name, home folder, tokens and (optionally) server addresses; worlds, chats and inventories are never included. Mod search links open in your browser only when you click them.
- Never in the way. Heavy work runs in the background with Cancel; a failing check is marked unavailable, the game goes on.
How to open it
- NeoForge / Forge: Mods → O.S Pack Doctor → Config.
- Fabric: Mod Menu → O.S Pack Doctor → Configure (needs Fabric API; Mod Menu optional).
- Any loader: assign a key in Controls → Key Binds → O.S Pack Doctor (no key by default).
- Servers:
