An independent Overgeared addon, for Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge.

Find the next step in your workshop: search for blueprints, follow metal from a cold ingot to a forged weapon, and learn the process through visual tutorials. Modpack authors can add their own recipes and explanations using external content packs.

Features

• Searchable drafting: find blueprint choices by name and keep the native drafting workflow.
• Optional JEI integration: 13 workshop recipe categories, heating discovery from ordinary ingots, forging layouts, blueprint requirements, molds, casting and finishing steps. Recipes reflect the loaded world data.
• Optional Ponder tutorials: 13 animated chapters in English and German, covering the first copper hammer and carved stone anvil, knapping, molds, casting, heating, forging, quenching, polishing, steel, Netherite, upgrades, arrows and repair/quality.
• Your own content packs: add recipes, recipe overrides, blueprint types, translations and custom Ponder scenes without rebuilding the addon.

Requirements

Required: Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.262 or newer within 21.1, and Overgeared. Tested with Overgeared 1.21.1-1.6.20.

Optional: JEI for recipe browsing. Animated tutorials additionally need Ponder and Flywheel. On CurseForge, Create 6.0.10 for Minecraft 1.21.1 includes the tested versions of both libraries. Create is not required for core functionality: standalone Ponder and Flywheel from the official Create Maven repository also work. No third-party mod JARs are bundled.

Without JEI or Ponder, the drafting improvements and installed recipe/blueprint content packs remain available. This release is for NeoForge, not Fabric or Forge.

Getting started

With JEI, press R on stone, copper or the stone smithing anvil, select Workshop Guide, then Watch the process when Ponder is installed. Press R on a cold ingot to find its heating route, then follow the forging recipes.

With Ponder, hover over the stone smithing anvil in your inventory and hold the key shown in its tooltip. The anvil opens all 13 core chapters; other supported items open their relevant chapters.

For modpack authors

Place content folders under config/overgeared_workshop/packs/<your_pack>/. Each folder uses workshop.json and pack.mcmeta, plus standard data/, assets/ and guide JSON files as needed.

Custom visual guides can bind to items, display captions in multiple languages, highlight blocks, show items and controls, change the view, and demonstrate an actual loaded forging recipe. Use an included workshop schematic or supply your own structure NBT.

The Author Kit 1.1.0, attached as an additional file to the release, contains a complete editable example and an authoring guide. These are declarative content files, not a JavaScript engine: they use existing registered items and do not create new item registry entries. No recipe overhaul is imposed unless a content pack is installed. Keep matching content folders on clients and servers, and restart after changing manifests, blueprint definitions or guide files.

Compatibility

Do not install Overgeared JEI Compat alongside this addon: Overgeared Workshop supplies its own integration. Do not install it alongside the old Shattered Legends Forging JAR either.

Tested optional versions: JEI 19.70.0.464, Ponder 1.0.82+mc1.21.1 and Flywheel 1.0.6. Text is available in English and German.
