Opticores

OptiCores is a client-side performance optimization mod designed to improve Minecraft’s rendering performance, particularly on low-end systems and devices using integrated graphics, such as Intel UHD Graphics.

Designed to work alongside Sodium or Embeddium, OptiCores introduces additional optimizations to help reduce rendering bottlenecks, improve frame rates and deliver a smoother gameplay experience.

Reporting Issues

Please report bugs related to Opticores through this project’s issue tab on github.

When reporting a problem, include your Minecraft version, installed mod versions, relevant logs, a lable to the issue and steps to reproduce the issue. This information helps identify the source of the problem and makes debugging easier.

How It Works

OptiCores uses several optimization systems designed to reduce rendering overhead and improve how Minecraft handles demanding workloads.

• ### Asynchronous Culling Pipeline (ACP)

Moves distance and frustum intersection calculations to a background worker, reducing the amount of culling work performed on the main rendering thread. This helps minimize rendering overhead and improve frame consistency.

• ### Concurrent Data Management (CDM)

Uses a thread-safe ConcurrentHashMap to store culling results for access by the rendering thread. This reduces redundant calculations and allows previously computed visibility data to be reused when appropriate.

• ### Dynamic Load Throttling (DLT)

Monitors chunk-loading activity and temporarily reduces entity-rendering workload during demanding operations, such as loading new terrain or teleporting to another area. This prioritizes terrain generation and helps manage sudden performance spikes.

• ### Compatibility and Integration

OptiCores includes compatibility considerations for other rendering and world-generation mods, helping prevent conflicts with custom block entities and LOD systems.

• Custom Block Entities: Provides compatibility handling for custom-rendered block entities, including those used in Create.
• Distant Horizons: Coordinates with LOD rendering to help avoid culling conflicts.
• Voxy: Includes compatibility considerations for LOD generation and rendering.

OptiCores aims to complement existing optimization mods rather than replace them. By reducing rendering overhead and managing demanding workloads, it seeks to make Minecraft smoother and more accessible on systems with limited graphics performance.
