Old Gods: Forgotten Forge

The gods are gone. Their forges are not.

 

Deep in the Overworld, half-buried in moss and cracked stone, stands a forge that predates every kingdom you know. Its runes still glow cyan. Its anvil still works. And somewhere inside it, scattered across pedestals and a forgotten chest, lie the fragments of divine weapons that were broken on purpose.

Collect three fragments of the same god, bring them to the Ancient Anvil, and forge something that was never meant to be whole again.

What’s inside

The Ancient Anvil — a massive 3×2 stone-and-iron forge with rune panels, gold rails and a cyan heart. Right-click it to open a reforging interface: three fragment slots, a diamond catalyst, a Soul Ember and one result socket. It is not a decorative block — it stores its inventory, finishes work while you are away, and drops exactly one anvil when broken.

Shard Pedestals — carved pillars that each hold one relic fragment. Claim it once and the pedestal is spent forever. Break it with Silk Touch and you get an empty pedestal that will never grow a shard again.

18 fragments, 6 relics. Every god has three fragments that only work together: a blade, a guard and a core; a limb, a string and a sight; a seed, a root and a bloom.

The relics

Relics are legendary (EPIC), enchanted like their vanilla family, and cannot be repaired with fragments — you forge a new one instead. Cooldowns belong to you, not to the item, so they survive death, dimension changes and relogging.

How it plays

1. Find the forge. It is rare — roughly one per 6400×6400 blocks of newly generated Overworld.
2. Loot the shards. Two to five pedestals plus a relic chest, each shard claimed exactly once.
3. Pick a god. You need three different fragments of the same god.
4. Reforge. 30 XP levels, one Diamond and one Soul Ember on the Ancient Anvil.
5. Use it. Sneak + right-click for most abilities; the tooltip tells you which.

The forge also generates a crafting recipe, so you can build your own anvil at home and stop hiking across the map.

Details players ask about

• Performance — block entities tick only while forging; no chunk loading, no world scans.
• Multiplayer — the anvil is server-authoritative: two players cannot duplicate a relic by clicking at the same time.
• PvP — abilities do not hit other players unless a server operator enables it.
• Config — config/oldgods_forge-server.toml controls XP cost, forge duration, abilities, PvP and worldgen.
• Languages — English and Polish in the box.

Requirements

Honest notes

• Worldgen is deliberately simple right now: both structure variants stand on the surface, with no slope or cave detection. Work in progress.
• Sounds use vanilla samples; custom particles are vanilla too.
• No JEI/EMI plugin and no hopper automation on the anvil — by design, for now.

Compatibility

Built to be quiet in a big pack: no mixins, no ATs, no registry overrides outside its own namespace. Known to run alongside Sodium, Iris and the usual content mods.
