Look inside another player’s ender chest, inventory or curio slots — live, read-only, and with Sophisticated Backpacks you can click a backpack open to see what is inside it. Nested backpacks too.

Let Me Look Look You

A staff tool for servers: one command opens a window onto another player’s containers. What you see is their real inventory at that moment, not a copy — and everything in the window is read only, so looking can never move, duplicate or destroy an item.

Made for Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge.

Commands

• Alias: /letmelooklookyou
• <player> is a normal entity argument: name completion, and selectors like @p / @a work
• Permission level 2 by default (configurable)

Why it is read only

Every slot the target owns refuses to be taken from or put into, on the client and on the server. Take, place, swap, shift-click, drag, hotbar-swap and creative-mode drop all do nothing. That is deliberate: an inspection tool that can move items is an item duplication bug waiting to happen, and it would fight with whatever the target player has open on their own screen. You get the truth, and nothing changes.

Live, not a snapshot

The window’s slots read straight through to the target’s real containers, and the server syncs the open menu once per tick. If the player picks something up, moves it or drops it while you are watching, you see it on the next tick. If they log out, the window closes by itself.

Sophisticated Backpacks support

Any Sophisticated Backpack that appears in a window — in the inventory, the ender chest, a curio slot, or inside another backpack — can be clicked open with left or right click:

• The new window is titled <player>'s <backpack name> and splits the content into storage slots and upgrade slots, colour coded
• Hovering a backpack adds a "Click to look inside" line to its tooltip
• Nested backpacks work: with the Inception Upgrade, a backpack inside a backpack can be clicked open too, layer after layer, and every layer has a back button to walk back up
• Large backpacks are paged: real sizes are Copper 45, Iron 54, Gold 81, Diamond 108, Netherite 120 slots (before stack upgrades), so storage slots are split across pages while the upgrade slots stay visible on every page, with page buttons and a page indicator
• Still read only — opening a backpack is only looking

Curios support

When Curios is installed the curios panel lists the target’s curio slots, grouped by slot type (ring, necklace, …) with one frame colour per type. Slot types that are hidden from the player’s own GUI are shown too, which is usually where things get tucked away. Hovering a slot tells you which one it is, for example ring #2.

Console and RCON

A console, command block or RCON source has nowhere to draw a window, so the command prints the contents as text instead: one line per non-empty slot plus a total. Same data, no client needed — handy for a quick check or for keeping a record in the log.

Compatibility

• Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.250 or newer
• Curios (9.x) — optional, read through reflection
• Sophisticated Backpacks (3.25.x, with Sophisticated Core) — optional, read through reflection
• With either optional mod missing, the matching panel or feature simply reports that there is nothing to show; nothing crashes and the rest of the mod keeps working
• Install on both sides. The command and the menu live on the server, the window is drawn by the client, so the player who runs the command needs the mod too. Clients without it can still play normally — they just get no window

Installation

1. Install NeoForge 21.1.250+ for Minecraft 1.21.1
2. Put the jar in mods/ on the server and on the client of whoever will use the command
3. Start the server, then run /lmlly <player> backpack

Notes

• Only online players can be viewed: the window is bound to the live containers of a logged in player
• One window holds at most 54 slots; backpacks page through the rest, other panels show the first 54 with a note
• Editing is intentionally not implemented (see "Why it is read only")
• A backpack window stays on the item stack it was opened from: if the player moves the backpack elsewhere while you are looking, reopen it to follow it

• 精妙背包：窗口里的精妙背包可以左键/右键点开，分「储物格 / 升级格」显示；装了嵌套升级可以一层层点进去，每层都能返回上一层；大背包（铜 45 ~ 下界合金 120 格）自动分页
• 饰品栏：装了 Curios 时按槽位类型分组显示，连隐藏的槽位类型也会列出来
• 控制台 / RCON：没有窗口可用时自动改为文本模式，逐格打印内容与汇总

Curios 与精妙背包都是可选软依赖，没装时对应功能自动降级，不会崩服。客户端与服务端都要安装本模组。
