Port Juno market

The 2013 story RPG mod, rebuilt from the ground up for Forge 1.8.8 — every quest, boss, shop and stat, and this time it has an ending.

237 years ago, a hero defeated Herobrine — but his power wasn’t enough to free Notch, sealed in a giant statue in the farlands. Everyone has been waiting for the hero who can. That hero is you.

Quick start

  1. Easiest: install the one-click modpack — it bundles Forge 1.8.8, the mod and the story world.
  2. Manual: Minecraft 1.8.8 + Forge 11.15.0.1655 or newer, drop this jar in mods, and add the Legend of Notch world to your saves. The campaign plays on the original’s hand-built map.
  3. Start the world, talk to Commander Ryan, pick a class. The tutorial covers the rest — press G for the quest guide and B for your class ultimate.

The story

The King's throne room

A full RPG campaign across a hand-built world: enlist in Port Juno, run errands for the King, follow the old mage Aldor’s hunt for the four Elemental Wizards before they can summon Herobrine back — and then face The Darkness, the final chapter the original announced but never shipped.

  • A complete quest chain from your first wooden sword to the last blow at Notch’s statue — no dead ends, no “coming soon”
  • 12 boss fights — the Ice Knight, the Ancient Guardian, the Pharaoh, the four Elemental Mages, the Fire Lord, the Arena Champion, the Zombie Knight, the Darkness Mage and Herobrine himself
  • Illustrated cutscenes — the 16 hand-painted story slides recovered from the 1.1.7 client, played as reels at the chapter turns
  • Side stories — Mayor Goofy’s Lost Souls at the frozen village, the Chef’s mansion key hunt, Salia’s Heartstone, and the arena in the capital
  • A living world — 19 placed NPCs with shops, dialogue and quest turn-ins, across Port Juno, the frozen village, the jungle village, the desert and the Vulcano

The RPG

Weapon shop

  • 5 classes — Warrior, Mage, Assassin, Berserker, Archer — each with its own weapon line from wood to platinum (yes, the Archer has bows now, all seven tiers)
  • Class ultimates on B — the Assassin’s Wave of Death, the Mage’s Arcane Storm, and the rest
  • Level cap 75, 3 attribute points per level across Strength, Agility, Intellect and Stamina, plus Melee and Arcane Mastery skill trees. Switching class refunds your points.
  • A physical economy — monsters scatter coins on death; walk over them to fill your purse. Weapon, armor, alchemy, general, mining and mount shops, an innkeeper, a teleporter and a sell block
  • Region-tiered monsters — every mob rolls its variant from where it stands: outlaws in the valley, armored dead in the midlands, ogres in the highlands, elemental warriors and wisps from the frozen north to the Vulcano. Ice bears, gorillas, jungle snakes, fire spiders, tortoises and carnivorous plants fill out the bestiary.
  • Ore that’s actually in the ground — mystic, cobalt, titanium and platinum veins generate across the whole story map, and /craft opens a crafting grid anywhere

What the remaster adds

Quest guide and minimap

  • Quest guide (G) — a compass strip and light-beam waypoints for every part of your current objective, including hunting grounds while you’re collecting
  • Live objective tallies — every “collect X” updates the moment you pick something up
  • Minimap with rotating compass, region name and coordinates
  • Modernized UI over the original artwork — animated HUD bars, clean buttons, target health readout with names and levels
  • /travel — the Teleporter’s destination list from anywhere (still costs gold!)
  • RPG death screen — respawn at the city, in your current biome, or on the spot with a Life Crystal; your inventory is banked, never scattered
  • Fair fights — every boss gives you a three-second grace before its first swing, elemental mages are leashed to their ritual sites, and Herobrine’s knockback no longer throws melee classes out of reach
  • English and Russian — the whole game, quests included
