L2 Spellcasters

L2 Spellcasters is an unofficial NeoForge addon for L2 Hostility and Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks. It adds the Spellcaster trait to eligible hostile mobs, allowing them to cast Iron’s Spells during combat.

Each mob receives a random spell loadout that persists when the world is saved or reloaded. As the trait rises from rank 1 to 5, the mob can use more spells—up to three distinct spells at rank 5—and gains access to higher spell rarities and levels. L2 mob levels also increase spell power, mana, cast speed, and other casting capabilities.

Spellcasters consider their target’s distance, available mana, cooldowns, and the health of nearby allies when choosing a spell. Their options include attacks, control effects, teleportation, self-buffs, healing, and support. A sufficiently strong hit can interrupt a cast. Friendly-fire protection is enabled by default for damaging and harmful spells, while healing and buffs can benefit hostile allies.

The default pool contains 48 spells. Summoning, terrain-changing, and portal spells are excluded by default; enabling them is experimental and unsupported. Spell selection, scaling, AI behavior, and mob eligibility can be customized through the common config and datapacks.

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.21.1
• NeoForge 21.1.251 or newer
• L2 Hostility 3.0.18 or newer, below 4.0
• Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks for Minecraft 1.21.1 (3.16 series)
• The dependencies required by those mods

Install L2 Spellcasters and its required mods on both the server and clients for multiplayer. The trait can begin appearing on eligible mobs at L2 level 100, subject to L2 Hostility’s normal trait selection rules.

Config file: config/enemyspellcast-common.toml
The internal ID and config filename retain enemyspellcast for compatibility with existing worlds.
