FastChest Update — Unofficial Port

FastChest Update is an unofficial port of the FastChest mod by Domi to Minecraft Java Edition 26.1 – 26.3, with a configuration screen and per-chest-type toggles added.

What does it do?

FastChest replaces the animated 3D renderer (BlockEntityRenderer) of chests with static block models, the same way regular blocks are rendered. Fewer block entities to render means a noticeable FPS gain in storage rooms with lots of chests.

Features added in this port

Per-type toggles. Simplify only the chests you want and keep the animation on the rest. Each type has its own switch: normal, ender, trapped and copper.
Global toggle. One switch turns simplified rendering on or off for every chest type at once.
Instant apply. Changes take effect as soon as you close the config screen, with either Done or Esc. No need to leave and rejoin the world.
Lid animation comes back instantly when you turn simplified rendering off for a chest type.
In-game config screen through Mod Menu, with settings saved to the config folder.

Requirements

Client-side only. You can use it on any server, and the server does not need the mod.

Compatibility

Works with Sodium, Iris, Lithium, MoreCulling, Continuity, ImmediatelyFast and other performance and visual mods.

Resource packs that redefine the chest blockstates are not compatible out of the box. The Vanilla Tweaks Proper Break Particles pack is one example. You can fix it by deleting chest.json, ender_chest.json, trapped_chest.json and copper_chest.json from the assets/minecraft/blockstates folder of the pack.
