Cobblemon: Synchro Machine [Morph&Play as a Pokémon]
Allows you to take on the appearance of any pokemon

介绍
Cobblemon Synchro Machine
Become the Pokémon. In survival. In multiplayer.
The Synchro Machine lets you merge with any Cobblemon Pokémon — inheriting its model, stats, moves, ability, held-item effects and typing. No battles required. Every morph is fully visible to other players in real time, with the mod’s own custom UI and Cobblemon’s real move sounds and particle effects.
How It Works
Craft or obtain the Synchro Machine item and open the team screen (G). Load Pokémon from your Cobblemon party into team slots, then select an active slot to morph. Model, animations, sounds and stat passives apply immediately. Switch slots to change form on the fly.
Prefer to start your whole adventure as a Pokémon? Enable Start as a Pokémon at world creation and skip the item entirely.

New in 1.8.2
Your Figura model can be your morph. If you use Figura, your avatar can be what you look like while morphed. Out of the box a morph_<pokemon>_root or morph_root part of your model shows and your normal root hides; a rules file lets you decide which parts show for which species, types, forms and movement states, and your avatar’s script gets a synchro table with the species, state and moves. Clips named morph_walk, morph_run, morph_physicalattack and so on play automatically. See Figura avatars below.
Emotions and a cry key. The emote wheel has an Emotions page — Happy, Sad, Angry, Unamused, Shocked, Surprised, Hurt, Cry, Smile, Blush, Determined and more, for the Pokémon that have them. Press R at any time to call out as your Pokémon; everyone nearby hears it.
Leave your trainer behind (optional). Turn on leaveTrainerBody and synchronizing leaves a copy of your trainer where you stood, so it reads as heading off as your Pokémon. Un-synchronizing walks you back to it.
Admin control. Every /synchro command now uses permission nodes (LuckPerms and similar, Fabric and NeoForge), every on/off setting can be changed with /synchro config, and on someone else’s server the config screen shows only your own client-side settings.
Fixes worth knowing about.
- Levels are no longer lost. Rare candy or battle levels you give the real Pokémon now carry into your morph, and your morph can no longer overwrite them with an older number. Levels you set with
/synchro editreach the party Pokémon too. - Transform can’t overwrite your real Pokémon any more.
- Held items no longer replace other mods’ models — the bundled resource pack is gone, which fixes the glitched models and the Mega Pidgeot crash reported with Complete Cobblemon Collection and other model packs.
- Regional evolutions respect their biome, teaching moves follows Cobblemon’s TM rules, and a battle ending in a capture or forfeit no longer leaves you invisible.
Cobblemon 1.8.2 – 1.8.4. Works with the 17 Pokémon Cobblemon 1.8.2 added and with the new flight animations (Spearow and Fearow fly with real animations now).
New in 1.8
Cobblemon 1.8 “Make Your Move” support.
- Alpha Pokémon — synchronize with an Alpha and you become one: its size, its look, and the TM move Alphas always know all carry over.
- Marks — your morph wears its Pokémon’s mark. Click the Mark row on the Info tab to cycle through the marks it has earned, or wear none — per Pokémon, and remembered.
- TMs matter — the move picker now offers only the TMs you’ve actually unlocked, so your morph’s movepool grows with your TM collection instead of being handed to you at level 1. Playing as a Pokémon also counts toward unlocking TM recipes.
- Intrinsic and baby scaling — your hitbox matches whatever size your Pokémon really is.
Your Synchro pick can be your Cobblemon starter. Turn on starterJoinsParty and the Pokémon you choose in “Start as a Pokémon” is also added to your party and registered as your starter — Cobblemon’s own starter screen never appears, and the two level up together. Ideal for Mystery-Dungeon-style packs.
Starter screen overhaul — shiny toggle, regional form cycler (Alolan / Galarian / Hisuian / Paldean), Alpha and size options, all shown live in the 3-D preview. Legendaries are excluded from the roster by default.
Keybinds
All bindings are rebindable in the vanilla Controls menu under the Cobblemon Synchro Machine category. (The config screen isn’t a keybind — open it from the title screen or pause menu via the Synchro Machine icon.)
| Key (default) | Action |
|---|---|
| G | Open the Synchro team screen |
| Z / X / C / V | Fire move slots 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 while morphed |
| H | Toggle the move HUD overlay |
| Y | Transform into the entity in your crosshair, or revert if already transformed |
| Y (detransform) | Dedicated revert-only bind — never triggers a new transform |
| B | Toggle morph visibility: hide Pokémon form ↔ restore last active form |
| J | Hold to open the emote wheel; release over an option to apply it |
| R | Call out as your Pokémon — the cry plays for everyone nearby (as often as you like, with a short gap so servers can’t be flooded) |
| U | Equip held item as a cosmetic; empty hand removes the current cosmetic |
Transform and Detransform share the same default key but are separate bindings, so you can rebind them independently.
Stats & Passives
The server reads your Pokémon’s actual stats every second and writes them as real Minecraft attributes.
- Flight — species flagged as flight-capable grant Creative-style flight. Switching to a non-flying Pokémon removes it immediately. Can be disabled or limited by a stamina timer.
- Water Breathing — aquatic species receive permanent Water Breathing.
- Max HP — the Pokémon’s HP stat is added on top of vanilla 20 HP, capped at +80.
- Armor & Toughness — Defense → armor points (cap 20); Sp. Defense → toughness (cap 8). Eviolite and Assault Vest multiply these.
- Movement Speed — derived from species behaviour data and the Speed stat. Choice Scarf (×1.5) and Iron Ball (×0.5) apply on top.
- Type effectiveness — incoming damage is scaled by your morph’s typing, so a Fire-type morph genuinely fears Water.
- Incoming Damage Scaling — optionally scales damage taken by the species’ bulk.
- Ambient Cries — your Pokémon plays its ambient sound once per minute.
- Type food preferences — food matching your type grants bonus saturation and regeneration.
- Biome comfort buffs — small buffs where your type belongs.
Movement speed modes
Speed scales with the Speed stat by default, which means a level-5 starter is genuinely slow. Set movementSpeedFromStats to false to use the Pokémon’s normal walk speed instead — consistent at any level, and recommended for “Start as a Pokémon” worlds. /synchro speed tunes an individual player on top of that.
4-Move Combat
Keys Z / X / C / V map to your four move slots. Physical moves draw from Attack; special moves from Sp. Atk. Each use plays the species cry, an attack animation, and Cobblemon’s own per-move sound and particle effect — so a Flamethrower looks and sounds like Flamethrower.
- Type effectiveness applies the full 18-type chart, including STAB. Vanilla mobs are given sensible typings.
- Traveling projectiles — ranged moves fly to their target instead of hitting instantly.
- Critical hits, multi-hit, drain and recoil all behave as expected.
- Two-turn moves — Fly, Bounce, Dig and Dive charge for a turn, then strike.
- Weather moves change the weather and scale the moves that care.
- Field hazards — Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Sticky Web leave lasting zones.
PP is consumed on every use. Restore it by sleeping, via saturation ≥ 6 (+1 PP every 30 seconds), or with /synchro restorepp. Cooldown scales with Speed (baseline 1 second at Speed 75; floor 0.5 s, ceiling 5 s).
Move learning
You’re offered your level-up moves for your current level, plus only the TMs you’ve unlocked — so your movepool grows with your TM collection. Learning moves as a Pokémon also counts toward unlocking TM recipes.
Move Effects in the World
| Category | Examples | Behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Dash moves | Quick Attack, Aqua Jet, Flare Blitz | Launches you up to 10 blocks, damaging the first entity hit |
| Block-breaking | Drill Run, Dig, Rock Blast, Hyper Beam | Breaks a shaped pattern in the look direction |
| Explosion moves | Self-Destruct, Explosion, Mind Blown | Real explosions; you’re immune to your own blast |
| Teleport moves | Teleport, Phantom Force, Shadow Force | Raycast teleport up to 64 blocks |
| Terrain moves | Grassy Terrain, Leaf Storm, Petal Blizzard | Applies bone meal in an area |
| Healing moves | Recover, Roost, Moonlight | Restores 50% or 100% max HP |
| Terrain tools | Cut, Rock Smash, Strength, Dig, the drills | Grant Haste for 15 seconds — genuinely faster mining |
| Weather moves | Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, Hail | Change the weather |
| Hazards | Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Sticky Web | Persistent zones that damage enemies |
Every one of these world effects has its own config switch, so you can keep the visuals and damage while turning off just the ones you find messy — for example stopping Water moves from leaving water behind.
Move Effects Catalogue
Not sure what a move actually does in this mod? There’s an in-game guide, open to all players.
- Hover any move in the Synchro menu — your equipped moves and the move picker — for a tooltip listing its type, category and every effect it produces.
/synchromoves <move>— full details for one move./synchromoves— every effect category (poison, sleep, flinch, drain, weather…) with counts./synchromoves effect <name>— every move that produces that effect.
Move HUD
Press H to toggle the HUD: four move tiles anchored bottom-right, drawn with the mod’s own textures. Each tile shows the move’s type icon and name, current PP (white → orange at ≤25% → red at 0), a cooldown sweep that drains as it expires, and a glow when the move is ready.
Team Screen
Open with G. A 3-column panel — left (model, name, level, type badges, held-item slot, Evolve button), center (tabbed content), right (6-slot team panel + Close).
Team panel — each occupied slot shows name, level and an HP bar. Left-click to switch your active morph; right-click for Heal / Revive / Remove.
Content tabs:
| Tab | Contents |
|---|---|
| Info | Dex number, Species, Type(s), Original Trainer, Nature, Ability + description, Mark selector, and custom lore |
| Moves | 4 move tiles with type, name, power, accuracy and PP. Click to open the move picker — level-gated, and TM-gated by what you’ve unlocked. Hover any move for its full effects. |
| Stats | Hexagonal stat chart with sub-tabs: Stats, IVs, EVs, Other (Friendship bar and metadata) |
Mark selector — click the Mark row on the Info tab to cycle which mark that Pokémon wears, or none. Per Pokémon, and remembered.
Held-item slot — shows whatever is in your off-hand. Equip the item in your off-hand to activate its effects.
Healing
- Items — right-click a Pokémon in the team screen and choose Heal or Revive. The mod lists matching Cobblemon medicines in your inventory and consumes the one you pick.
- Rest — sleep through the night to fully heal and revive your entire team at once.
Start as a Pokémon
Begin a world already merged with a Pokémon — no item required. Enable it from the Create New World screen or with the synchroStartAsPokemon game rule.
Each new player gets a starter selection screen: every first-stage Pokémon at level 5, with
- gender selection where the species supports it,
- a shiny toggle (and Cobblemon’s
doShinyStartersgame rule is respected), - a regional form cycler for species with Alolan / Galarian / Hisuian / Paldean variants,
- Alpha and size options,
all shown live in the 3-D preview. Choose one and you spawn already morphed, with a level-appropriate moveset.
Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beast and Paradox species are excluded by default. The roster is otherwise fully configurable.
Make it your Cobblemon starter too. Turn on starterJoinsParty and your pick is added to your party and registered as your starter, so Cobblemon’s own starter screen never appears — and with party syncing the two level up together.
Morph & Party Sync
Your morph and the matching Pokémon in your Cobblemon party stay in step:
- EXP and levels go both ways, upward only: what your morph earns is added to the party member, and levels the party member gains elsewhere (rare candy, battles) carry into your morph. Neither side is ever lowered to match the other automatically; the one exception is an explicit
/synchro editor/synchro slot edit(for examplelevel=60), which is applied to the party member exactly as typed. Controlled bysyncXpToParty. - Moves — the four moves you use in the world are mirrored across, so it battles with the same set. Turn off
syncMorphWithPartyif you want your battle moves and your world moves to differ. - Evolution, both ways — when your party Pokémon evolves in normal play, you become the evolved form; evolving through the Synchro menu updates the party member to match.
Abilities
Over 100 abilities across four hook points: passive tick, on-hit-received, on-hit-dealt, and damage multiplier.
Contact-on-defend — Flame Body, Poison Point, Static, Rough Skin, Iron Barbs, Effect Spore, Cursed Body, Gooey, Tangling Hair, Aftermath, Synchronize, Perish Body.
Contact-on-attack — Moxie, Chilling Neigh, Grim Neigh, Beast Boost, Battle Bond, Soul-Heart, Poison Touch, Corrosion, Toxic Chain, Libero, Protean, Stench, Poison Puppeteer.
Damage multipliers — Huge Power / Pure Power (×2.0), Gorilla Tactics / Dragon’s Maw / Steelworker / Sniper / Hustle and more (×1.5), Tough Claws / Transistor / Sheer Force (×1.3), Neuroforce / Tinted Lens / Parental Bond (×1.25), Adaptability / Skill Link / the -ate abilities (×1.2), plus category-conditional ones — Strong Jaw on bite moves, Sharpness on slicing, Mega Launcher on pulses, Technician on low-power, Iron Fist on punches, Reckless on recoil.
Passive auras — weather abilities (Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream, Snow Warning and the primal trio) create a localised weather zone in combat. Terrain abilities grant effects while grounded. Intimidate and the Ruin abilities apply AoE debuffs.
Held Items
Put a Cobblemon item in your off-hand and it works as the Pokémon’s held item.
- Damage — Choice Band / Specs (×1.5), Life Orb (×1.3 + recoil), Muscle Band / Wise Glasses (×1.1)
- Type boosters (×1.2) — Charcoal, Mystic Water, Sharp Beak, Soft Sand, Hard Stone, Silver Powder, Spell Tag, Black Belt, Poison Barb, Silk Scarf, Metal Coat, Dragon Fang, Twisted Spoon, Miracle Seed, Magnet, Never-Melt Ice, Fairy Feather
- Defense — Eviolite (×1.5 Def/Sp.Def, if it can still evolve), Assault Vest (×1.5 Sp.Def)
- Speed — Choice Scarf (×1.5), Iron Ball (×0.5)
- Passive — Leftovers, Black Sludge, Sticky Barb, Flame Orb, Toxic Orb
- On-hit — Shell Bell (heals 1/8 of damage dealt), Life Orb recoil
- Other — Soothe Bell doubles friendship, Lucky Egg grants +50% EXP, Rocky Helmet reflects contact damage
Transform
Press Y while morphed to copy the entity in your crosshair.
| Transform type | Who can do it | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Full Pokémon swap | Transform-capable species | Model, moves and stats fully replaced |
| Illusion (visual only) | Zorua / Zoroark lines | Looks like the target; own stats and moves kept |
| Vanilla mob disguise | Illusion or Transform-capable species | Cosmetic only |
| Player skin copy | Illusion or Transform-capable species | Cosmetic only; exact skin + cape |
Transform is a species gimmick, not a universal power — only Illusion species and Transform-capable Pokémon (Ditto, Mew, Imposter, or knowing the move) can use it. Your team slots never store transformed data, so you can always change back.
Visual Features
- Cobblemon move VFX/SFX — every move plays its real particle effect and sound on your morph
- Held-item rendering — off-hand items appear in the model’s hand
- Attack swing animation on each move use
- Emote wheel — hold J for a radial picker: Sleep, Battle Ready, Float, Hover, Swim, Stop Emote, plus an Emotions page (scroll or press Tab) with the expressions and cries your Pokémon has
- Quirk animations — your Pokémon’s short idle animations (yawns, ear twitches, blinks) appear in the wheel alongside the poses, visible to nearby players
- Cosmetics — press U with an item in hand to equip it on the model
- Toggle Morph — press B to appear as your player character with no stat change
- Flight animations play automatically while airborne, with hover used when holding position
- Figura avatars — your Figura model can be your morph’s body (see below)
Figura avatars (optional)
Client-side and only with Figura installed. The Figura avatar option in the config screen has three settings: rules (default), avatar (any avatar with a model always replaces the morph) and off.
In rules mode the file config/synchro_figura_rules.json decides which parts of your avatar show or hide while you are morphed. Out of the box it shows morph_<species>_root (for example morph_riolu_root), or morph_root if there is no species-specific part, and hides root. If your avatar has neither, the normal Cobblemon model is used. Saving the file applies it within about two seconds.
{ "rules": [
{ "species": ["riolu", "lucario"], "showFirstOf": ["morph_{species}_root", "morph_root"], "hide": ["root"] },
{ "type": ["fire"], "state": ["fly"], "show": ["flame_trail"] }
] }
- Conditions (all optional, all must match):
species,excludeSpecies,type,form,state(idle,walk,run,fly,swim,sleep), each a name or list of names with*wildcards, andshiny(true/false). - Actions:
hideandshowtake part paths (root,root.cape,morph_*);showFirstOfshows only the first part in the list that exists;hideVanillahides the player body, armor and held items while your avatar is the morph (on unless you set it tofalse).{species}and{form}inside a part name are replaced with the morph’s species and form. - Rules run top to bottom and, for any part, the last rule that mentions it wins. A rule that wants to show a part your avatar does not have is skipped. Any part a rule can show stays hidden whenever no matching rule is showing it, so
morph_rootis not drawn over your normal model when you are not morphed. - From script:
synchro.rules = { { species = {"riolu"}, show = {"morph_riolu_root"}, hide = {"root"} } }adds rules from the avatar itself, so an avatar carries its own setup. - Script data: every avatar gets a
synchrotable:morphed, species, form(regional / special form such asalolan; gender is not part of it),aspects(everything, includingmale/female),shiny,types,state,move,moveCategoryandmoveSerial(increases each time a move is used). - Clips: with a part shown, the mod plays your Blockbench animations by name through Figura:
morph_<species>_<state>thenmorph_<state>for idle / walk / run / fly / swim / sleep (run falls back to walk, sleep to idle), and when you use a movemorph_<move>, thenmorph_<physical|special|status>attack, thenmorph_attack. Move names are the Showdown id (tackle, watershuriken); underscores and case are ignored. Remap any of them in the file’sanimationssection, or withsynchro.animations = { walk = {"my_walk"} }.
Evolution, Friendship & Mega Evolution
Evolve any slot with an available evolution from the team screen; Cobblemon’s own requirements are respected. Branching evolutions open a picker.
Friendship accumulates at +1 per minute while morphed (Soothe Bell doubles it) and is shown on the Other sub-tab.
Mega Evolution requires Mega Showdown. Right-click with a compatible Mega Stone to transform, with the full particle sequence playing on your morph. A configurable timer controls the duration.
Rival & Counterpart Species
When two morphed players come within 24 blocks, species pairs from Pokédex lore react — rivals (Zangoose ↔ Seviper, Mew ↔ Mewtwo, Reshiram ↔ Zekrom, Kyogre ↔ Groudon and many more) both get a Strength burst, while counterparts (Plusle ↔ Minun, Latias ↔ Latios, Xerneas ↔ Yveltal, Ho-Oh ↔ Lugia and more) both get Regeneration.
Wild Pokémon of your own species will also gather and follow you, scattering when combat starts.
Multiplayer
The mod must be installed on both the server and every client. The server tracks morph state and broadcasts it; each client renders other players’ Pokémon models, sounds and move effects. Active morphs sync to newly joined players within 40 ticks.

Server administration
- Who can use the commands: every
/synchrocommand needs operator level 2 by default. - Permissions mods (LuckPerms and similar): two permission nodes are available, so a moderator can manage the mod without being a full operator.
cobblemon_synchro_machine.command— the/synchrocommands at all.cobblemon_synchro_machine.command.config—/synchro config(view and change settings). Grant both for config access.
- Where settings live: on a server, in
config/cobblemon_synchro_machine.jsonin the server’s folder./synchro config <key> <value>changes a setting immediately and saves it; editing the file by hand needs a restart. Every on/off setting the server reads can be changed by command. - The in-game config screen only edits your own client’s files. When you are connected to someone else’s server it shows just your client-side settings (camera, Figura) and tells you the rest is managed by the server’s operators; on single-player and the title screen it edits everything as before.
