Cobblemon Quiz Rounds, in your Chat

Cobblemon Chat Games is a simple server side mod that runs quick quiz rounds in your server’s chat. Every few minutes a question goes out. The first player to type the right answer wins.

Rewards are emeralds by default, but can be switched to CobbleDollars or Impactor dollars in the config. An additional option for players to earn money on your server

Features of Chat Games

• Four mini games, each of which can be switched on or off.
• Built from your pack. The question pool is read from Cobblemon’s loaded species, moves and abilities, and refreshes when datapacks reload. Even works with custom types!
• Rewards in any currency. Emeralds by default, or CobbleDollars, or Impactor dollars.
• Each game pays its own reward, set separately for items, CobbleDollars and Impactor, so switching currency needs no re-tuning.
• Fair answers. Capitals, spaces, accents and punctuation don’t matter: “Double-Edge”, “double edge” and “doubleedge” all count. Dual types are accepted in either order.
• Leaderboard. Wins are saved with the world; type !quiztop in chat or use /chatgames top.
• Server-side only. Players don’t need to install anything.

Configuration

Everything lives in config/cobblemon_chat_games.json on the server. The file explains itself in a _help block at the top and is rewritten with any missing keys on startup. It is re-read before every question, so edits apply from the next round, or right away with /chatgames reload.

General

Games

Each game under games (unscramble, cobblemonType, moveType, ability) has its own enabled switch and a reward in each currency. Only the reward matching rewardType is paid.

Installation

Install Chat Games on the server (or in your single player instance) and pick the file for your loader. Players joining the server don’t need it.

Optional: CobbleDollars or Impactor for money rewards.

FAQ

Does it work with fakemon and addon mods?

Yes. Questions are built from every species, move and ability Cobblemon has loaded, including datapacks and addon mods.

Do questions run on an empty server?

No. A question is only asked when at least one player is online.

Can I turn off a game I don’t like?

Yes. Set that game’s enabled to false in the config. The remaining games take turns in random order.

Can I use this in my modpack?

Yes. Use it in any modpack or on any server, as long as the mod itself is not placed behind a paywall.
