When you use /sit, an invisible ArmorStand spawns at your position and you ride it. Vanilla Minecraft handles the sitting animation and position lock automatically — no client-side mod, no Mixins, no experiments.

Steps
Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.2
Download Fabric API and place it in your mods/ folder
Download ciservermodding-chairborne-1.0.0.jar and place it in your mods/ folder
Launch the game and use /sit
Server Installation
Place both the Fabric API jar and the Chairborne jar in the server’s mods/ folder. Clients connecting to the server do not need the mod installed — all logic runs server-side. The sitting animation is handled by vanilla riding mechanics.

Technical Details
The mod uses an invisible, no-gravity, no-base-plate ArmorStand spawned at the player’s position. The player rides the ArmorStand, which triggers the vanilla sitting animation (isPassenger = true) on all clients. The ArmorStand is positioned 2 blocks below the player to compensate for the vanilla ride height offset.

Sneak gesture detection: Rising/falling edge detection on sneak key, with a 6-tick (0.3s) max hold threshold to distinguish a “click” from a “hold”
Pitch threshold: 60 degrees down triggers sit
Cleanup: ArmorStands are discarded when the player stands up, leaves, or is no longer riding
