Hit the ring at the perfect moment and turn a normal punch into a devastating Black Flash.

How it works

Land a fully charged melee hit, with your fists or any weapon, and a timing ring may close in on your crosshair. Left-click the exact moment it reaches the centre to unleash a Black Flash:
Deals 2.5x the damage of your hit, with heavy knockback.

The screen freezes for a split second, is re-inked in red and black with cracks of black lightning, flips to its negative and bleeds back to colour.

Black lightning with a red glow tears out of the target, along with pixel-art sparks and a shockwave of dust.
Screen shake, a zoom punch, manga speed lines and a booming impact sound.

Miss the timing and nothing happens: your normal hit still lands.

The Zone

Every Black Flash puts you in the Zone for 10 seconds. While you’re in it, the ring shows up more often and the timing window is wider. Chain hits to build your combo (x2, x3…) and unlock the advancements Black Flash, Spark of Black and The Zone.

Multiplayer

The server validates every hit, so it can’t be faked with a modified client, and it allows for lag. Nearby players see the lightning, hear the impact and feel the shake.

Commands

/blackflash test (operators): opens the ring on the nearest mob. Handy for trying out the effect or recording clips.

Config

Server owners can change the ring chance, ring speed, timing window, damage multiplier, knockback, Zone duration and cooldown, and turn PvP on or off. Players can tweak each visual effect separately, including a Reduce flashing option for anyone sensitive to flashing lights.

Requires NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1. Works in singleplayer and multiplayer.
