Soaring Trader Flyovers

Higher, smarter flyovers for Create Aeronautics: Discovery.

A datapack for Minecraft 1.21.1 that moves Trader and Pillager flyovers into the sky, gives them terrain and obstacle avoidance, and keeps them away from the roughest mountain biomes.

Less chance of a biplane clipping through your base. More chance of seeing one where it belongs — overhead.

What it changes

✈️ Higher Flyovers

Trader and Pillager flyovers now spawn at Y 280–310.

Their cruising behaviour uses:

• Straight flight
• Altitude control
• Terrain avoidance
• 24-block terrain clearance
• Obstacle avoidance

🏰 Higher Patrol Flights

Woodland Mansion and Pillager Outpost patrol flights spawn at Y 240–250 and use the same avoidance behaviour.

🏔️ Mountain Avoidance

Flyovers skip problematic terrain, including:

• Jagged Peaks
• Frozen Peaks
• Stony Peaks
• Windswept Savanna
• Biomes matching *:mountain*

This keeps the aircraft out of the most awkward terrain and reduces the chance of them wandering directly into your mountain builds.

Install

Drop the .zip into your world’s datapacks folder and run /reload, or restart the world.

If you use Moonlight Lib, you can instead place it in:

moonlight-global-datapacks/

This allows the datapack to be applied globally to your worlds. 

Limits

Flyovers can still collide with sufficiently tall player-built structures.

If a player gets within one block of a flyover, Discovery hands the wreck to Sable. Once that happens, the vehicle is no longer subject to the normal flyover despawn timer.
