Fossil Menagerie

Fossil Menagerie is a datapack that allows Fossils & Archaeology’s dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures to be resurrected using Marvelous Menagerie: Paradoxical’s time fractures.

This is intended for those who greatly enjoy Marvelous Menagerie’s systems and want to use it for F&A’s creatures. I would make another datapack that does the reverse, where you could resurrect Marvelous Menagerie species through F&A’s fossils, DNA, and culture vats, but it would be significantly more difficult with all of the custom items required. If it even is possible I do not know.

This datapack was made in mind for those that want to engage with F&A’s systems less. Some F&A items are required for summoning but not many. F&A fossil ores in particular do not need to be interacted with at all with this datapack and generation can be disabled in the mod’s config.

The datapack and resource pack only touch the extinct species and the Failuresaurus. The living species and other fantasy creatures the mod adds are not modified at all.

Changes:

Fossils and Fossil Cleaning:

-Every F&A species can have their respective “fossil” discovered through brushing the right fossil type. The fossil counterpart used for F&A creatures is the skull of the given creature. For those that don’t have a skull, the unique bone or meat was used.

-There is a 50/50 chance between getting MM and F&A fossils when brushing. Within that 50% chance, there is an equal chance to get each species appropriate for the time period. Those that have the meat as their fossil (Arthropleura, Megalograptus, Aquilolamna, etc.) are the exception and are rarer (10% or less).

-There is a 1/1000 chance to get a scarab gem upon a perfect fossil dig.

Summoning:

Every extinct creature and the Failuresaurus can be summoned using the time fractures. These include the appropriate “fossil” plus three other items. See the Paleonomicon entries using the resource pack to find what is required.

Failuresaurus:

The Failuresaurus is now considered an abomination, and will appear in wild time fractures. It also drops chronotite on death like the other abominations. It also has its own summon requirements if desired.

The Paleonomicon:

Almost every extinct species from F&A and the Failuresaurus now have their own entries in the Paleonomicon with custom text and art. The Diplocaulus, Dodo, and Trilobite species from F&A do not have entries, but have text added to the standard pages revealing the different summon requirements, which are only slightly different from the default.

Note that while it will technically function with the datapack alone, the resource pack is required in order for the Paleonomicon entries to be visible.
