Coco’s Tarantulas

With this datapack, tarantulas are added to the game. They act very similarly to regular spiders, but with a few changes.

—Tarantulas are bigger. They have a larger hitbox and cannot climb walls.

—Tarantulas are faster. They can easily catch up to the average player and have no problem keeping up with even the fastest mobs.

—Tarantulas deal more damage. They deal high-knockback, high-damage hits that will inflict you with 7 seconds of poison.

—Tarantulas are neutral. Tarantulas will not actively hunt (with the exception of hostile mobs), even at night, as long as they aren’t angered. A tarantula is angered when they take damage from a mob or player. If angry, a tarantula will kill pretty much anything in the area and it will stay angry for about 3 minutes. You can tell if a tarantula is angered if they have red particles around them.

—Tarantulas have a unique ‘warn’ system. If you get too close to a tarantula, it will lift its front legs up and ‘warn’ you not to come any closer. If you do get close, they will inflict a non-lethal bite.

—Tarantulas are rarer. A tarantula will spawn every 10 regular spider spawns.
