Lobodk’s Better Fishing Loot

Make fishing more rewarding while keeping the familiar fish-first feel.

Better Fishing Loot is a lightweight loot-table mod for Minecraft Java 26.3 on NeoForge. Its loot rules run server-side: it works in single-player through the integrated server, and on dedicated multiplayer servers. For multiplayer, install it on the server; players joining do not need the mod on their clients. Fish remain the most common catch, and every cast gives exactly one item.

What can you catch?

• Vanilla fishing loot, including its usual fish and treasure.
• Random enchanted books.
• Vanilla weapons, tools, armor, and ranged equipment from standard materials up to diamond. Each special piece of gear has a 20% chance to be enchanted.
• Ender pearls, eyes of ender, slimeballs, emeralds, and potions of water breathing, night vision, healing, and swiftness.
• Nether loot such as blaze rods and powder, nether wart, quartz, glowstone dust, magma cream, soul sand, warped fungus, crying obsidian, ghast tears, and fire resistance potions.
• A very rare Netherite reward roll: 0.1% per cast for Netherite scrap, an ingot, or Netherite gear. Gear may be enchanted or unenchanted.

Luck of the Sea

In open water, the chance to roll the treasure category is:

Each cast first gets a separate 0.1% Netherite check. If it does not trigger, the Nether loot replacement chance is 3%, 5%, 7%, or 10% with Luck of the Sea levels 0–III. The chance of each individual item varies within the weighted loot pools.

The treasure bonus follows Minecraft’s open-water fishing rule. You can still fish in a small pond, but the treasure-category bonus requires open water.

Installation

Install the JAR in the NeoForge server’s mods folder, then restart the server. For single-player, place it in the local NeoForge instance’s mods folder.

Compatibility: This mod replaces Minecraft’s fishing loot table. Another mod or datapack that also replaces that same table may conflict.
