Runes & Ruins Quests

A clean, modern quest book for NeoForge 1.21.1, built for the Runes & Ruins modpack and usable in any pack.

Features

• Chapter list on the left with progress bars, and a quest tree you can drag and zoom.
• Quest window with a formatted description, task progress and rewards, plus a “Claim rewards” button.
• Boss icons: a quest can show a small 3D model of any mob or boss instead of an item.
• Milestones: bigger nodes with a gold rim, and text labels on the canvas to mark stages.
• Task types: collect items (or item tags), defeat mobs, travel to a dimension, find a structure, visit a biome, or tick a checkmark.
• Rewards: items and experience levels.
• Progress counts early: kill a boss before its quest unlocks and it still counts once the quest opens.
• Per-player progress, saved with the player and synced in multiplayer.
• Toast notification when a quest is completed.
• Translations: the interface is translated into 30+ languages. Quest texts follow the game language from config/rrquests/lang/<language>.json, falling back to another region of the same language and then to English.

For pack makers

Quests are defined in one file: config/rrquests/quests.json. Each chapter has an id, an icon, a title, optional canvas labels, and a list of quests. Each quest has:

• id, x, y, optional size (milestones use more than 1)
• icon (item id) and optional icon_entity (entity id shown as a 3D model)
• title, subtitle, description (text per language, e.g. {"en_us": "..."})
• dependencies (quest ids)
• tasks: {"type": "item|kill|dimension|structure|biome|check", "target": "namespace:id" or "#tag", "count": 1}
• rewards: {"type": "item", "item": "minecraft:diamond", "count": 3} or {"type": "xp", "count": 10}

Description lines support Minecraft formatting codes (§6, §l, …).

To translate quest texts, copy config/rrquests/lang/en_us.json to e.g. de_de.json and translate the values.

Commands (operators)

• /rrquests reload: reload quests.json and resend it to all players
• /rrquests reset <player>: clear a player’s quest progress
• /rrquests complete <quest>: complete a quest for yourself (handy for testing)

• Required on both client and server.
