Memory Charm is a lightweight quality-of-life mod for vanilla Minecraft. It adds a single utility item – the Memory Charm – that gives you full control over what an Allay will accept. — What it does The Allay is a wonderful helper, but its behavior is rigid: once you give it an item, it sticks with that type forever, and there is no in-game way to inspect or reset that choice. Memory Charm solves both problems. – Bind: right-click an Allay carrying an item with the Memory Charm in your hand to save the item it is holding into the Allay’s permanent memory. – Filter: after binding, the Allay will only ever accept that exact item. Any other item you try to give it will be rejected, and you will see a clear on-screen message telling you what the Allay actually expects. – Inspect: sneak + right-click an Allay with the charm to read out the name of its bound item at any time – no more guessing what that Allay is actually after. — How it works – Memory is stored in the Allay entity’s persistent NBT, so it survives world reloads, server restarts, and chunk reloads. – The mod never edits Allay AI; item filtering is done by intercepting player interaction on the server, with no impact on other mods. – No new blocks, entities, dimensions, or world generation. Purely an enhancement to vanilla Allays. — Crafting Shapeless crafting recipe: – 1 Amethyst Shard – 1 Gold Ingot – 1 Lapis Lazuli (All materials are easily obtainable in vanilla survival – no late-game items required.) The recipe unlocks automatically the first time you pick up any of the three materials, and it shows up in the in-game recipe book. — Configuration No configuration needed. Everything is deliberately simple and works out of the box. The mod is intentionally minimal: one item, one purpose. — Compatibility – Minecraft 1.20.1 – Forge 47.2.20 or later (within the 1.20.1 Forge range) – Client-side and server-side safe; works on dedicated servers. – No required dependencies. No conflicts with other Allay mods. — Performance and stability – All interaction logic runs on the server, only when a player right-clicks an Allay. – No per-tick polling, no scheduled tasks, no extra entities. – NBT storage is minimal – one tiny tag per Allay that has been bound. – Tested with vanilla servers and common mod setups.
