D’s Shrooms

Grow a mushroom. Press a nugget. Breed the next strain.

D’s Shrooms is a mycelium resource farm for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. You smoosh vanilla mushrooms into mash, feed a nutrient block, and wait while it colonizes into mycelium. A single block grows a small fruiting body you can harvest by hand. Tile the same strain into a solid odd square at least 3×3 and two layers high, and a giant mushroom grows out of the top center. Fruit and spores appear on the pad under the cap. Press the fruit for coal, copper, iron, and later metals you breed.

The loop

1. Smoosh four brown, red, crimson, or warped mushrooms (or four blank fruit) into blank mash.
2. Inoculate a nutrient block with mash. Organic food takes blank and early strains; mineral, nether, and ender food host pickier ones.
3. Harvest the fruiting body on a 1×1, or wait for a giant and pick fruit and spores under the cap.
4. Press fruit: four on the crafting table, or two in the Fruit Press with FE. Press Efficiency (netherite) drops that to one fruit. Press Bulk (iron) runs up to four batches in one cycle.
5. Inject blank mash with coal, copper, or iron in the Injector to get typed mash. Everything else is bred: right-click spores of one parent on a giant cap of the other.

Touching food is colonized by the pad (the parent pauses while it works). Two different strains on the same food become mold, which slows nearby pads until you break it. Water above moldy nutrient soaks thrown food or wheat into compost.

Giants and pads

A giant is the largest solid odd square of idle same-strain mycelium, at least 3×3 and two layers high, with matching corners. Extra complete layers make the stem taller and the pad more productive. Break a tile and the box reverts. Config maxPadSize (default 11) is a scan safety cap, not a goal.

Most strains want shade and moisture. One water, moss, or cauldron next to the pad hydrates the whole connected pad. Canopy and Irrigation upgrades skip those checks. Hyphal Flush washes pad upgrades off; it does not strip machine upgrades.

Machines

Hoppers attach to machines and food, never to mycelium or the stem socket.

Shipped strains

Blank mash comes from smooshing vanilla mushrooms. Coal, copper, and iron inject. The rest breed on a giant cap:

Netherite presses to netherite scrap. Extra materials (AlltheOres, Allthemodium, AE2, Occultism) are optional JSON, not an auto-scan of every ingot in the pack.

Create (optional)

If Create 6 is installed, a Mechanical Press over a Basin compacting two fruiting bodies gives the same output as the Fruit Press. Four mushrooms compact into blank mash. A Mixer in a Basin can inject mash and mix nutrient crafts. Same ratios as the bench and FE machines. Server config extras.create can turn this off.
