Drop Claim

Dropped items stay yours for a short configurable window, then become public — no client mod required.

Drop Claim is a lightweight Forge server utility that temporarily reserves player-dropped items for the player who dropped them. It is designed to stop nearby players from accidentally or intentionally scooping up someone else’s items while keeping normal item drops simple and familiar.

Features

  • Server-side only — connecting players do not need Drop Claim installed.
  • Protects ordinary manual player drops.
  • Protects player death drops.
  • The owner can pick up their claimed items immediately.
  • Other players are blocked from picking them up until the claim expires.
  • After the timer expires, the item becomes a normal public drop again.
  • Claim duration is configurable.
  • Manual-drop and death-drop protection can each be enabled or disabled independently.
  • No GUI, graves, custom blocks, currencies, teams, land claims, or required dependencies beyond Forge.

Default configuration

claimDurationSeconds = 60
protectManualDrops = true
protectDeathDrops = true

The claim duration can be configured from 0 to 3600 seconds.

Compatibility

Minecraft 1.20.1 • Forge 47.4.10+ • Server-side

Drop Claim is built for normal player item pickup behavior. Mods that move items through alternate systems such as magnets, pipes, vacuum inventories, or custom pickup mechanics may bypass normal Forge pickup events and are not claimed as compatible unless specifically tested.
