OtterTeam Cobblemon SMP

A curated Cobblemon SMP pack built on top of BigChadGuys Plus (w/ Cobblemon) by
jflec, with three server-side systems layered on it that change how a fresh world
plays out: timed progression, daily objectives, and
land protection designed for small communities.

267 mods, Minecraft 1.20.1, Fabric. Spanish-speaking community, but the pack itself is
language-agnostic.

The Era system — the world unlocks on a schedule, not on your grind

In most Cobblemon packs, whoever plays the most in week one is permanently ahead. Here the
server advances through 6 Eras of 3 days each. Every era raises the Pokémon level
cap and unlocks a new chunk of the tech tree — for everyone at once.

Era Days Level cap What opens up
1 · First Steps 1–3 25 Farming, cooking, fishing, furniture, art, basic Cobblemon. Create is locked.
2 · The Underground 4–6 35 Deep mining, MythicMetals, storage systems, Ultimine.
3 · The Forge 7–9 45 Full Create, Create Addition, Steam Rails, Building Wands.
4 · The Nether 10–12 60 The Nether opens, plus Incendium and Create Enchantment Industry.
5 · Sky and War 13–15 75 Aircraft, ships, Automobility, artifacts and trinkets, Megamons.
6 · The End 16+ 100 The End, BetterEnd, elytra and Icarus wings, full endgame.

What this actually feels like: on day one you cannot craft a single Create
component — the recipes aren’t hidden, they don’t exist yet. You cannot light a Nether portal until
Era 4, because the Nether itself is closed at the server level. Your level-25 Pokémon can eat all
the Rare Candy you want and it will not go past 25.

The consequence is that a player who joins on day 10 and a player who has been there since day 1
fight with the same power ceiling. The veteran has better bases and more
resources — they earned that — but they cannot out-level you.

Era starter kits. Joining late still means missing ten days of gathering, so
every era has its own starter kit (8 to 15 items). Era 1 gives Poké Balls, potions, iron tools and
food; Era 6 gives netherite, Ultra Balls and Max Potions. The kit levels the
materials, never the power — the level cap is global and applies to everyone.

Ultimine scales too. The vein-mining allowance grows with the era: 8 blocks per
swing in Era 1, 24 in Era 2, up to 64 in Era 6. Early on, mining is still mining.

Daily missions — a reason to log in today

The pack ships a mission engine written specifically for this server. Every day you get
3 objectives drawn from a pool of 72, indexed by the current era,
so it never asks you to craft something that is still locked.

  • Progress is strictly per-player. Two people in the same town advance
separately. This is why it is not built on FTB Quests, where task progress belongs to the team.
  • You see it while you play. A live progress line sits in your action bar; a
toast pops when you finish one; /misiones opens the full panel.
  • Everyone gets the same three. They are derived from the date, so people can
    actually talk about them.
  • They reset at 07:00 (Mexico City time) and pay out in items.

Examples from Era 1: “Chop 64 logs”, “Mine 128 stone”, “Catch 5
Pokémon”
. From Era 4: “Dig 256 netherrack”, “Defeat 15 blazes”,
“Mine 32 Nether quartz”.

Server goals — one daily, one monthly

On top of the individual missions there are two shared objectives that the whole server adds up
to: a daily one (e.g. “Together: defeat 2,000 mobs”) and a
monthly one (e.g. “Together: mine 40,000 blocks”). Everyone online gets a
reward when one completes, and there are announcements at 25%, 50% and 75% so you can see it
coming. Live progress bars are posted to Discord and refresh every 10 minutes.

Land protection built for small servers

Chunk claiming is the usual source of friction on a small server: one person fences off a
mountain range on day one and nobody else has anywhere to build. The rules here are tuned against
exactly that:

  • 16 chunks per member (256×256 blocks) — enough for a real base, not enough to
    fence off a biome.
  • Claims must be contiguous. Your first claim in a dimension is free; every claim
after it has to touch one you already own. Territories end up looking like territories instead of
    scattered land-grabs.
  • Spawn cannot be claimed within 160 blocks, so the hub always stays shared.
  • Idle claims expire after 45 days, so a player who leaves does not freeze their
    land forever.
  • Griefing is reversible. Block logging with rollback means a raided base gets
    restored instead of argued about.

Both the contiguity rule and the spawn exclusion are custom — FTB Chunks has neither. Denied
claims tell you the actual reason instead of a generic error.

Quality of life

  • Proximity voice chat. You hear people near you without Discord — clear at 48
    blocks, fading past that.
  • Free, unlimited Waystones. No cost, no cooldown, cross-dimension. Getting
around is not the challenge here.
  • Six ranks with escalating home slots and command cooldowns.
  • Graves so a bad fall is not a two-hour recovery.
  • Discord bridge that shows each player’s own name and skin rather than a bot
    relaying quotes.
  • Restricted player radar on the map, so hiding is actually possible.
  • Backups every 3 hours and a daily restart, so the server does not rot.

How you get it

The launcher installs the mods listed in the manifest. On your first connection,
AutoModpack delivers the remaining files and keeps every player in sync from then
on — when the server adds a mod, you get it on your next join without reinstalling anything.
It verifies every JAR against Modrinth and CurseForge before downloading, and the connection uses a
real Let’s Encrypt certificate, so there is no fingerprint to paste by hand.

Please read this before downloading: this pack is the client for the OtterTeam
SMP, a whitelisted community server. You can install it and play it solo as a
BigChadGuys Plus variant, but the Era, mission and goal systems described above are server-side —
they only run when you are connected. Setup guide and server address:
