Your Flint and Steel now lights the way.

Lighter Light is a tiny add-on for Sodium Dynamic Lights. When you hold the vanilla Flint and Steel, it emits a soft dynamic light around you, just like a torch would.

Features

• Flint and Steel emits light while held in your hand (main hand or off-hand)
• Light level 7: a bit weaker than a Soul Torch (10) and well below a regular Torch (14)
• Goes out underwater, like the other water-sensitive items of Sodium Dynamic Lights
• No config, no new items, no recipes: just install and play
• Very lightweight, client-side only

• Sodium Dynamic Lights (any version)
• Embeddium or Sodium, as required by Sodium Dynamic Lights

• Use Copper Lighter for a modern immersion

FAQ

Does it work on servers? Yes. It is client-side only, so you can use it on any server without the server installing it.

Do I need to press F3+T for it to work? No. Lighter Light makes sure the light definitions are loaded on the very first resource load.

Can I change the light level? The level is defined in a JSON file inside the mod: assets/lighter_light/dynamiclights/item/flint_and_steel.json. You can override it with a resource pack using the same path and changing luminance (0 to 15).

The light doesn’t show with my shaders. Dynamic lights from Sodium Dynamic Lights depend on how your shader pack handles lighting. If a torch doesn’t light up with your shaders, the Flint and Steel won’t either.
