Nook Technology's works by a savanna river at sunset: a Coke Oven and an Industrial Blast Furnace of Nether Bricks under a catwalk, smoke rising from the furnace's throat, a Conveyor Belt running past lamp posts to a Converter and its Loading Arm, the battery shed behind. Build a working steel mill for Nookworks – then automate everything around it.

Nook Technology is the industrial add-on to Nookworks.
Bake coke, smelt pig iron in a brick blast furnace and blow it into steel. Then run your base on it: Conveyor Belts with
Loading Arms, Motors and shafts, power lines and billion-FE batteries, a Quarry that clears the chunks you pick on a
map, a storage terminal – and a zipline home. Drawn in Nookworks’ own black frames, dark steel and brass.

Player guide

Beta. Everything is finished to play; numbers may still be tuned. Back up your world before updating.

New in 0.2

  • Short-Range Magnet Chest – gathers only what falls right beside it: a Desulfurizer’s sulfur, a machine’s output.
  • Copper Tanks stack into one tank, up to sixteen high, while the add-on is installed.
  • Shafts turn Drive Wheels, and a running belt turns the shafts at its side.
  • Utility Poles stand three blocks high and feed the machines beside their foot.
  • Quarry Start button – nothing digs until you press it.
  • Power lines without steel – the Wire Drawer is built on Nookworks’ Machine Chassis.
  • Thirteen new advancements, and the first challenges: a chunk quarried to bedrock, a generator geared to x16,
10,000 FE/t through one Power Meter.
  • Polished throughout: click a belt, arm or shaft with an empty hand to see what it is doing; twelve new sounds;
the Sifter’s tray, the Block Breaker’s cutter and the Enchanter’s pages move while they work.
  • Coke Ovens take blocks of coal; Loading Arms work at belt corners; Shift+drag takes items out of the Storage Terminal.

The steelworks

A Coke Oven and an Industrial Blast Furnace, built of Nether Bricks round a door, turn coal and iron into pig
iron; a Converter blows it into steel. Or melt Nookworks’ scrap in an Electric Arc Furnace. The coal tar goes to
a Tar Still under Nookworks’ distillation columns, for pitch, graphite and creosote. A Sinter Machine makes
the better charge; a Desulfurizer on a Generator catches sulfur from its coal smoke. Steel builds the add-on’s
machines – and H-Beams and Catwalks to build a works with.

Conveyor Belts and Loading Arms

One Motor runs a whole belt – round corners, up slopes, at up to sixteen times the speed with a speed gear, either way.
Set a machine on the belt, give it a Loading Arm, and it picks out what it can use and drops what it makes back on.
Belts stand on legs, wall brackets or ceiling hangers, whatever is round them.

Shafts, gears and a Hobson’s Joint

Carry a Motor’s turn where you need it: Shafts, a Bevel Gearbox, a Clutch, a Reversing Gear – and a
Hobson’s Joint, six bent rods sliding through its hubs. Throw a lever by hand or by redstone to stop a line or send
it back.

Power

Utility Poles strung with wire carry 2,000 FE/t a pole, 24 blocks a span. A Battery holds a billion FE, a
Large Battery two – and keeps its charge when you pick it up. A Power Meter shows what flows. Forge Energy
throughout, so other mods’ cables connect.

Moving items: the Long Hopper

A hopper and a pipe in one: intakes take what machines drop, outlets put it into chests and machines down the line,
by priority, faster with a speed gear. Sorting stays with Nookworks’ sorters.

Machines

On Nookworks’ lower cabinets, each with its working part on the lid: Electric Sifter, Wire Drawer, Auto
Crafter
(JEI’s + sets the pattern), Auto Brewer (whole potion chains), Enchanter (on Liquid Experience),
Enchantment Extractor, Fishing Machine, Animal Feeder, Pumpkin Carver, Block Breaker and Block
Placer
.

The Quarry and the Chunk Loader

Pick chunks on a map, press Start, and the Quarry clears them to bedrock on power alone – enchanted books choose
Silk Touch or Fortune, speed or thrift. The Chunk Loader keeps the chunks you pick running.

Storage Terminal and Monitor

Storage Cable joins up to 128 chests, barrels, shulker boxes and Nookworks’ crates to one Storage Terminal:
search them all, pull items out, craft from them. Your items stay in your chests.

The Storage Terminal's screen for a storeroom of 22 chests, barrels and crates: every container listed at the side, 56 kinds of items in the middle, the crafting tab open

Monitor Screens set side by side join into one screen, up to 16 by 9; a Monitor Controller shows the photos
you take with Nookworks’ Camera as a slideshow, or lines of text with a sign – for a shop or a station.

Ziplines

Two anchors up to 64 blocks apart, a cable of drawn iron wire and a handle: hook on and ride down at up to 16 blocks a
second – from a lookout on the hill straight down to the works.

Nookworks’ machines, faster

Nookworks’ Sorter Gears become speed gears: up to x16 in its Crusher, Compressor, Recycler, Motors and more, for
more power each. Generators get a gear too, heat machines a power setting, the Electrolytic Cell electrodes – and
Copper Tanks stack into one. Without the add-on, Nookworks stays exactly as it was.

Upgrades in the guide →

Where to start

  1. Build a Coke Oven (iron, glass, Nether Bricks and a furnace – no steel) and bake coal into coke.
  2. Build the Industrial Blast Furnace and charge it with iron, coke and Limestone Lumps (from crushed calcite or
    dripstone).
  3. Blow the pig iron into steel in a Converter, and make a Reinforced Machine Chassis.
  4. Build the add-on’s machines on it. Belts, Long Hoppers and the Wire Drawer, whose wire strings Utility Poles
and ziplines, need no steel at all – make them any time.

The guide has it step by step: From iron ore to steel

Good to know

  • No world generation: no ores, plants or structures – safe for a world you already have.
  • Every part can be switched off for a pack (config/nooktech-startup.toml).
  • Other mods’ steel, coke and iron dust work by common tags; power is Forge Energy.
  • JEI shows every recipe, structure and upgrade; Jade what each machine is doing. Claims are respected.

How this mod was made

Nook Technology is made with AI (Claude, by Anthropic) under the author’s direction: the author decides what goes in,
plays it and judges it; the AI writes the code, this page and the textures, drawn by scripts kept with the source.
Every picture here is a real in-game capture. The banner and the power line are taken with Complementary Reimagined
shaders, as their captions say; the rest without.
