Advanced Nemesis System

Get killed by a zombie and it stops being just a zombie.

It gets a name, a face and a grudge. It remembers what you did to it, levels up, claims land, builds a base, raises an army and comes back for you. Every rival is different, and every rivalry is yours.

 Rivals that remember

– Any hostile mob that kills you becomes a Nemesis, with its own name, personality, clan and history
– Six ranks, from Recruit to Supreme Overlord, and only one Overlord can hold the throne
– They bring up what happened between you. Burn one and it won’t forget. Run away and it gets stronger for it
– They keep going while you’re away: travelling, trading, recruiting and levelling up

A world that fights back

– Captains and above claim land and fill it with their own troops
– Rivals build real bases, from a small hideout up to a huge citadel, full of traps, strongrooms and throne rooms
– Hunting parties, raids on your home, sieges and mounted Warlords
– Alliances, betrayals, assassinations, blood brothers and heirs who take up a fallen rival’s banner
– World events as the roster fills up, from faction wars to a dark age

Fight back

– Craft the Nemesis Chronicle to track every rival you’ve met
– Learn weaknesses by fighting them, questioning their troops and reading their orders
– Spare a beaten rival, or follow a vendetta compass to the one that killed you

Rivals can drop five trophies, each with its own use:

– Nemesis Skull: plant it on a pike to keep lesser rivals from sending anything near your home
– Banner Fragment: raise false colours and walk past lesser rivals unnoticed
– Weapon Shard: forge a Bane weapon that hits that rival’s kind harder
– Armour Emblem: fit it to a chestplate to resist that rival’s kind and element
– Relic: blast nearby enemies, or survive one killing blow
