介绍
Benjamon
A complete monster-catching RPG inside Minecraft. Catch 155 different Benjamons, raise and evolve them, and fight turn-based battles against trainers, league leaders and bosses. Along the way you explore new towns and buildings that generate in your world: Benjaby towns, an evil apartment block, a harbour with a disco basement, the casino city Las Bengas and a dinner club in the End.
Language: all in-game text (dialogue, menus and battle text) is in Danish. Item names also have English translations.
Requires: Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric Loader 0.16 or newer, Fabric API and Java 21. Install the mod on both the client and the server.
How Benjamon changes your game
Benjamon adds a second game on top of survival Minecraft. Wild Benjamons spawn around you in the Overworld, along beaches and rivers, in the Nether and in the End. When you hit or right-click one, you don’t fight it with your sword. A turn-based battle starts instead: your own Benjamon jumps out next to you, and each turn you choose an attack, use an item, switch Benjamon or run away.
- Win to earn experience and money. Your Benjamons level up, learn new moves and evolve.
- Catch a wild Benjamon by weakening it first and then throwing a Benjaball. The battle screen shows your chance of catching it.
- Lose and you drop some money and wake up where you last healed (at a bar in town or in your bed).
Your team, storage box, Benjadex, money and badges are saved for each player.
Catching and raising Benjamons
- 155 species and 11 types: Butter, Party, Glamour, Cosy, Street, Nature, Ice, Sea, Nether, End and Darkness. Every type is strong or weak against other types. For example, Ice freezes Sea, Sea is super effective against End, and Darkness swallows Glamour.
- Three-stage evolution lines, for example Malfi → Malfisto → Malfistofeles or Pølsini → Franskini → Pølsezilla.
- Over 200 moves. Many of the big moves have their own short animation built from real blocks: Elevator slag drops an elevator on the opponent, Pride Parade sends a rainbow of wool past it, and Bicepsbombe drops an anvil. Status effects include confused, infatuated, stunned and poisoned.
- Rare forms. About 1 in 60 wild Benjamons is butter-coated (15 % stronger and shiny butter yellow). About 1 in 512 appears in the very rare Pride form (30 % stronger and rainbow coloured). Rare forms evolve earlier, into 68 special evolutions with their own 3D models.
- Where they live. The further you travel from spawn, the stronger the Benjamons get, through five zones from level 2 to level 44. Benjamons can reach level 100. The biome, the time of day and the weather decide who you meet: rain brings out Monsoon, thunderstorms bring out Stormmåge, and snow brings out Isbjerg.
- A companion. Choose one Benjamon to walk with you. It defends you like a tamed wolf and gains experience from the mobs it defeats. Some companions can be ridden: Pølsezilla runs on land, Isbjerg sails across water, and Stormmåge and Flyvende Malfi fly.
- Daycare and eggs. Leave two Benjamons at the daycare, and they lay eggs that hatch after you have walked 300 blocks with them.
- Living models. Every Benjamon has its own 3D model and its own cry, and it turns its head to look at what is around it.
Places to explore
New structures generate in your world on their own, the same way villages do:
- Benjaby towns. Each town has the ice cream shop Uganda Is, which sells Benjaballs, healing ice cream and items. It also has A bar, where your team is healed for free, and the bar’s VIP lounge, where the legendary Børnemin waits. Seven trainers live in town, and there is a stadium, a hot dog stand and a daycare.
- Benjaligaen. A league arena with eight leaders to beat for badges, then the Four Fests (an “elite four”) and finally the League Champion.
- The Grøntorv apartment. A rare, evil apartment block. Buy the access card, then fight your way up floor by floor to the penthouse against three bosses who evolve in the middle of the battle.
- More to find. Street gates hide black bags full of loot. At gas stations you can buy Børnemin’s red car, a drivable car that runs on fuel. Køge Havn is a harbour with a disco basement, where the legendary Benny Bas still plays.
- Las Bengas. A walled desert city inspired by Las Vegas, with the casino Bensino, a hotel, a sausage pyramid and a little wedding chapel. Only players who have caught Børnemin get past the doorman. See New in 2.10 below.
- Malfian’s sewer. Under Las Bengas lives Malfian, the mafia from the Butter Coast. Fight your way through the family to the Godfather and take over. See New in 2.11 below.
- Madklubben (the Dinner Club) in the End. See New in 2.4 below.
The Benjacompass points to the nearest town, gate, gas station, league arena, harbour or Las Bengas, to your car, or to a Benjamon you are tracking. Commands such as /benjaby also show you the way.
New in 2.11: Malfian, the mafia from the Butter Coast
- The sewer under Las Bengas. By the gate of Las Bengas there is a lifted manhole cover with a sign: KLOAK – no entry. Climb down the ladder into Malfian’s sewer: an entrance room, a long canal with walkways and bridges, and rooms along it: the butter warehouse, the laundry (where the money hangs on lines to dry), Mamma Lucia’s kitchen, a back-room gambling den, the Velour Lounge and, at the very back, the Godfather’s office. The sewer is built under the city the first time a player comes near the gate, so it also appears in Las Bengas cities that already exist in your world. (
/lasbengas bygbuilds it right away, and operators can rebuild it with/lasbengas kloak.) - The family. Fight Malfian’s four members in order: Smør-Sonny (the butter smuggler), Bogholder Bent (the bookkeeper in the laundry), Mamma Lucia (the cook, who thinks you are too thin) and Bruno Bulldog (the Godfather’s bodyguard). Their teams are level 44–51. Bruno only lets you into the Velour Lounge once the whole family knows your name.
- Don Velour, the right hand. The rat in the red velour suit and gold chain makes you an offer you can’t refuse. His team is level 50–55. Beat him and the door to the Godfather’s office opens.
- Godfather Malfi. Malfi, the little black dog with butter on his head, now walks on two legs in a pinstripe suit, a bow tie, a red rose and a fedora with the butter on top. He fights you himself in a boss battle, reliving his rise to the top: Malfi → Malfisto → Malfistofeles (level 54–59, 30 % stronger than normal). Beat him for the first time and you take over Malfian: 10,000 + 25,000 coins from the family’s cash box, his butter-coated Malfistofeles (level 50), and the whole server hears that the family has a new Godfather.
- Life as the Godfather. Collect protection money: hold Shift and right-click shopkeepers and townsfolk. Each of them pays once per Minecraft day, and the croupiers and dealers in Bensino pay the most. The family greets you as Godfather, and Don Velour heals your team for free.
- The debt collectors. Win more than 10,000 coins in Bensino (net, since Malfian last came by) and one of Malfian’s debt collectors shows up after you leave the casino: Tony Tandstik, Frankie Fedthår or Sally Spaghetti. They want the Godfather’s share: 30 % of your winnings (at most 30,000). Pay, or fight for it. If you don’t answer, they start the fight themselves. Win and you keep everything; lose and they take the share. The Godfather is left alone, and the shares collected from other players go to the player who last took over Malfian (even if that player is offline).
- Achievements: Familien kender dit navn (beat the family), Gudfaderen (take over Malfian), Et tilbud, de ikke kan sige nej til (collect protection money 25 times) and Ingen andel til Gudfaderen (beat a debt collector).
/benjamon malfianshows your progress.
New in 2.10.1: Børnemin’s Statue of Liberty and the fake Børnemins
- Børnemin’s Statue of Liberty. A giant statue of Børnemin himself now stands by the gate of Las Bengas, in the Statue of Liberty pose: spiky blond hair with a golden crown of rays, his striped t-shirt and gold chain, a huge red drink with a straw held high instead of a torch, and a tablet that says “HVA SÅ?”. He looks out over the Benja Strip. It appears in new Las Bengas cities (or build one with
/lasbengas byg). - 14 fake Børnemins. Børnemin copycats, each in its own costume: Skraldemin pops out of a wheelie bin, Kajmin and Minimin are chefs, Rochermin wears a foil chain, Feriemin has a holiday shirt and a coconut drink, Køgemin carries a tote bag, Fasnachtmin hides behind a rubber mask, Viltrumin is a superhero with a stone fist, Tegnemin stepped out of a cartoon wearing a tiger pelt, Fodboldmin is back from a football trip, Olimin wears a swim ring, Rhodosmin meditates, and Ungemin and Metformin are the young and the old copy. They are numbers 142–155 in the Benjadex, with their own figures, cries, collector cards, butter and Pride forms and their own signature moves. They do not count towards Benjamester.
- Mascots you photograph. While you walk around Las Bengas, one of them shows up now and then as a mascot and waves for three minutes. Take a photo of it with the Benjacamera, and from then on you can meet and catch it in the wild, most often in its favourite biomes. Until you have a photo, it will not battle you.
/benjamon maskoterlists the ones you have photographed.
New in 2.10: Las Bengas, the casino and the lottery
- Las Bengas. A new walled city inspired by Las Vegas. It appears in deserts, badlands, savannas and plains, spread out like the Benjaby towns. Dino the doorman stands at the gate and only lets in players who have caught Børnemin. Inside, the Benja Strip runs through the city with palm trees and neon lights, past the casino Bensino, Hotel Benjagio with Børnemin’s fountain, the Sausage Pyramid with a beacon on top and the Little Chapel, where Prince and Princess Emma got married. Las Bengas only appears in new terrain;
/lasbengasshows the way, and operators can build one with/lasbengas byg. - Bensino, the casino. Five games, each on its own animated casino screen. Pick your bet with chips (10–5,000 coins) and play for your in-game coins. The house always wins a little in the long run (the games pay back 92–95 %).
- Benjaslots: 20 slot machines with Malfi, Pølsini, Isvaffi, butter, Børnemin and the golden 7. Three golden 7s is the jackpot (500×), announced to the whole server.
- Benjalette: roulette with croupiers. Bet on a number (36×), a dozen (3×) or red/black, even/odd, 1–18/19–36 (2×). Zero is Børnemin’s green slot.
- BenjaJack: blackjack with dealers. Hit, stand or double down. A BenjaJack pays 3 to 2, and the dealer stands on 17.
- Plincomin: drop a ball through 12 rows of pegs into a slot that pays between 0.3× and 33×.
- Hestemin race: six horses with Benjamon riders and new odds every race. Pick a horse and watch them run.
- Lofi in the casino (2.10.5). Inside Bensino, relaxed lofi versions of all 17 Benjamon music discs and Manza’s “Benzin” play one after another: a little slower and deeper, warm and muffled, with vinyl crackle and tape wobble. The song title shows at the top of the screen, and N skips to the next song. The music follows the Jukebox/Note Blocks volume and stops when you leave the casino or a battle starts.
- BenLotto. Buy tickets at the lottery counter: four numbers from 1 to 15 for 100 coins (up to 10 tickets per draw, or a quick pick). Every 14 Minecraft days, four numbers are drawn for the whole server. All four right wins the jackpot pool (shared if several players have it), and the pool starts over at 10,000 coins. If nobody wins, the pool grows: half of all ticket sales go into the pool, plus 2,500 coins for every draw without a winner. Three right pays 400 coins and two right pays 50. Winnings wait for players who were offline.
/benlottoshows the pool and your tickets. - New blocks and achievements. The six casino blocks are in the Benjamon creative tab (the games only work for Børnemin’s friends). New achievements: Welcome to Las Bengas, Jackpot! and Lottery Millionaire.
New in 2.9.1: Princess Emma
- Prinsesse Emma, Prince’s girlfriend, joins with two evolutions: Kronprinsesse Emma and Dronning Emma. She wears big round glasses, reads thick books and stares at everyone until they get bored. As queen she wears a crown, a glasses chain and an ermine cape that matches King Benjamin’s.
- Her own butter and Pride evolutions with their own figures: Smørprinsesse Emma, Smørdronning Emma, Regnbueprinsesse Emma and Pridedronning Emma.
- Her signature move Kedsomhedsblik (Boring Stare): she just stands and stares through her glasses until the opponent gets so bored that it falls asleep. Used on Prince, he falls in love instead.
New in 2.9: races, talent show, doubles and the Deep Dark
- Races around Benjaby. Right-click the start flag on the town square, ride a mount Benjamon (Pølsezilla, Isbjerg, Stormmåge, Flyvende Malfi …) or drive the car, and race through 12 particle rings around the town and back to the flag. The compass points to the next ring, and friends nearby get a join button so you all start together. The town keeps a leaderboard of the fastest times.
- Benja FM. The car now has a radio. Press M to switch between Benja FM (all the Benjamon discs), Minecraft FM (the vanilla discs) and off, and N to skip to the next song.
- The talent show. At the microphone on the square, pick one of eight songs and play the rhythm game while the judges (Børnemin, Velourotte and Manza) watch. They each say YES or NO. The first show each day pays out, and the highest score of the real-world week becomes the star of the week and wins 3,000 coins.
- The Benjacamera. Buy a camera in the ice cream shop, aim at a wild Benjamon and right-click. Like Pokémon Snap, each photo is scored: rarity, size in the frame, centring, whether it looks into the camera or is moving, costumes and extra Benjamons in the shot. Your photo album keeps the best photo of each species.
- Double battles (2 vs 2). Your two lead Benjamons fight at the same time and you pick an action and a target for each. Storms, waves and other moves that rain down on the field hit both opponents. The new wandering trainers Tim & Tom always fight in pairs, and
/benjakamp <player> dobbeltchallenges a friend. - Weekly challenge. A notice board on the square posts a new rule every week (for example Ice types only, One against three or Beat Kaj at level 30). You fight with copies of your team, so nothing is lost. The first win each week pays out, and scores go on the weekly board.
- Treasure maps. Sometimes a black bag holds a treasure map. It shows the way (and the compass points there), an X of flames marks the spot when you get close, and the buried chest holds vanilla treasure plus Ultra Balls and money.
- A secret legend. The Benjasphinx only appears to players who solve her five riddles. The first one is on a note by the card table, and paintings whisper the riddle you are on when you right-click them.
- The Deep Dark. Below y = 0 and in the Deep Dark biome lives the new Darkness type: five new Benjamons that evolve twice each (15 species), plus the Benjasphinx, and eight new moves such as Sculk Shriek and Warden Roar.
- Friendship. Benjamons become friends with you when you walk together, give them ice cream and battle side by side. Good friends land more critical hits, best friends can hang on with 1 HP, and they learn Friendship Hug, a move that grows stronger with your bond.
- Your own garden. Place a garden gate anywhere, and up to six Benjamons from your storage box roam around it. Friends can visit and say hello, even when you are offline.
New in 2.8: rewards, cooking, fishing and raids
- The record collection. Every Benjamon music disc you have held counts towards your collection (
/benjamon pladershows the ones you are missing). Collect all 17 and Benny Bas from the disco basement gives you a Golden Jukebox and joins your team himself in the rare Pride form. The Golden Jukebox plays every Benjamon disc and every vanilla disc, repeats the song on a loop and sparkles with gold while it plays. - The Dinner Club menu. Six ingredients are found out in the world: lemons in tree leaves, chili in nether wart, shrimp in kelp and seagrass, ender spice in chorus plants and butter in hay bales. Wild Benjamons also drop them after a battle, depending on their type, and the black bags often hold one. Ender-Børnemin cooks five dishes from them, each with a battle bonus: +50 % experience, a 50 % better catch chance, double money or +20 % damage for your next 5 battles, or rare forms 3 times as often for 10 minutes.
- Fishing. When you fish by the sea, a Sea Benjamon can take the hook. The bobber splashes, and if you reel in within a second and a half, the battle starts right there.
- Giga raid (2–4 players). After you have beaten Ender-Børnemin, gather a team in the Dinner Club. Giga Ender-Børnemin appears with enough health for everyone, and each player fights their own battle against him at the same time. All damage comes off the same shared health bar. When someone lands the final blow, the whole team wins money and a Dinner Club gift, and nobody loses money for being knocked out.
- Benjakort, the card game. One of the tables in the Uganda Is ice cream shop is now a card table. Sit down with another player, or play against the computer opponent Kort-Kasper. Each player gets five cards from their own trading-card album. Each of the five rounds draws a category (attack, defence, speed or health), the higher number wins, and a type advantage counts 50 % more. The winner gets money and a new trading card.
- The Benjaby Festival (28 June – 4 July every year). Lil Ztitch hosts the festival on the town square. Every day you can play his song “Drinks med citroner” in the rhythm game, and the first concert of each festival gives you a gift. Wild Benjamons wear flower crowns, the Lil Ztitch family comes out to party, Pride forms appear twice as often, and there are lights and fireworks over the square at night.
- Less lag on multiplayer servers when players are far apart from each other.
New in 2.6: evolutions and safer battles
- The 23 species that had only one stage now evolve twice: 46 new Benjamons. The Sea, Nether and End species evolve like the ordinary lines in their own colours (for example Grillini → Glødini → Infernozilla), and Manza, Benny Bas, the Midsummer Witch and Flyvende Malfi get brand-new figures.
- Benjamons can now reach level 100.
- While you are in a Benjamon battle, mobs, drowning, fire and falling cannot hurt you.
- Generated buildings stay clean: no hills, trees, water or lava inside towns, arenas and other Benjamon buildings.
New in 2.5: real songs
- Manza’s concert now plays the full version of his song “Benzin”, with a note chart built from the song’s own tempo and beats.
- Ten Benjamon music discs with the team’s own recordings can be found in the black bags and played in a jukebox.
- All Benjamon items now have their own Benjamon tab in the creative inventory: the compass, car key and black bag, the Dinner Club gifts, the music discs, the paintings, and a trading card and figure of every Benjamon in all three forms.
New in 2.4: the Dinner Club in the End
- Stronger Nether and End Benjamons. Nether Benjamons are now stronger than ordinary Benjamons, and End Benjamons are stronger than both.
- Sea against Nether and End. Sea Benjamons cannot damage Nether Benjamons at all, but they are always super effective against End Benjamons.
- Madklubben. After you defeat the Ender Dragon, a dinner club appears on the main End island, south of the exit portal. It is built from blocks the dragon cannot destroy. Malfi, Velourotte, Denise and Monsoon sit at the long table, and you can talk to them. At the head of the table stands the giant Ender-Børnemin (level 70), and you can challenge him to a battle.
- Rewards. Every time you beat Ender-Børnemin, you choose one gift:
- Børnemin’s Butter: food with twice the effects of an enchanted golden apple (Regeneration IV, Absorption VIII, Resistance II and Fire Resistance, each lasting twice as long).
- Børnemin’s Hand: a weapon that deals 25 damage with strong knockback.
- The Black Bag: a bag with 20 slots that you carry with you.
- The Striped Shirt (chestplate) or The White Trousers with a black belt and a gold buckle (leggings): armour three times as strong as netherite.
- After his defeat, Ender-Børnemin sometimes roams the End, so you can catch him. Flyvende Malfi, a dog with large feathered wings, also starts to appear there. Make it your companion to ride it and fly.
Holidays, events and things to do
- Holidays that follow the real calendar. Halloween brings pumpkin heads, trick-or-treating and a ghost Benjamon. Christmas has an advent calendar with 24 doors and rice pudding battles. Shrovetide has the Danish “hit the barrel” game, Easter has eggs, Midsummer has bonfires and a witch Benjamon, and New Year has fireworks. Wild Benjamons wear costumes during the holidays.
- Friday bar. Every seventh Minecraft day, Party moves get stronger, and the singer Manza performs his song “Benzin” in a rhythm mini-game you can play. The notes are charted from the real song, so you tap along to its actual beat.
- Benjamon music discs. Seventeen music discs with the team’s own recordings, each with its own label colour. You find them in the black bags behind the street gates or out in the world (a creeper killed by a skeleton can drop one, just like the vanilla discs), and you play them in any jukebox. Collect all 17 to earn the Golden Jukebox.
- The Benjaby Festival every summer, hosted by Lil Ztitch, with a daily concert in the rhythm game.
- Lots to do every day:
- Daily tasks and achievements.
- Expeditions: send Benjamons away for 30 minutes to 3 real hours, and they come back with loot.
- Held items.
- Collectible trading cards and figures for every Benjamon and form, plus custom paintings.
- Battle music.
- People to meet. Wandering trainers challenge you out in the wild, and your rival shows up now and then with a growing team.
