Make invisibility actually protect your identity.

Veiled Kills is a lightweight server-side Forge mod that hides an invisible player’s identity when they kill another player. Instead of exposing the killer’s username, the victim and server see a message such as:

Player was slain by an unseen attacker

When the attacker is visible, or the death is unrelated to an invisible player, Minecraft’s normal death message is left untouched.

Features

• Invisible killer anonymity — invisible player killers are shown as an unseen attacker by default.
• Melee support — direct invisible-player kills are anonymized.
• Projectile support — player-owned projectile kills are anonymized.
• Combat-history protection — covers follow-up deaths where arrows or tipped arrows can otherwise leak the invisible archer’s username through later magic/effect damage text.
• Vanilla-friendly fall-through — visible attackers, self deaths, mobs, and unrelated environmental deaths keep their normal Minecraft messages.
• No weapon-name leak — anonymous messages intentionally avoid carrying named-weapon details that could reveal the attacker.
• Configurable — disable the behavior entirely or change the anonymous attacker label.
• Server-side only — players can join without installing Veiled Kills on their clients.
• No dependencies beyond Forge.

Configuration

Veiled Kills uses a Forge common config with two simple options:

• enabled=true
• anonymousName="an unseen attacker"

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.20.1
• Forge 47.4.10+
• Java 17

Install the mod on the server. Clients do not need it.

• stealth-focused gameplay
• magic/adventure modpacks
• SMP servers where invisibility should have meaningful social/combat value
